davieG Posted 1 February 2008 Posted 1 February 2008 Now that the dust has settled on transfer window as I see it come the end of the season we'll be left with the following squad: Goalkeepers: Logan (2010); Henderson (2009) RBs: Chambers J (2010); Stearman (2009) LBs: Mattock (2010) CBs: Kisnorbo (2009); McAuley (2009); N'Gotty (2009) LMs: Hayes (2010); Porter (2010) RMs: Gradel (20??); CMs: Oakley (2011); Wesolowski (2011); Clemence (2010); Andy King (20??) Forwards: Campbell (2011); Howard (2011); Hume (2010); Hayles (2009); Fryatt (2009); Sappleton (20??); Odhiambo (20??); Chambers A (20??) Possible Signings: RM - Bori; LM - Zsolt; LB - Clapham. Others: Kaebi (2009); Hellings (2009); Kishishev (2009) That's it, plus anyone else that makes it from the reserves, that's a pretty thin looking squad that Ollie is going to have to build on. I'm also sure some of those under contract will move on but even if they don't I think we can expect and need some fairly hefty signings to make a new challenge for promotion next season from whatever league we're in
Ric Flair Posted 1 February 2008 Posted 1 February 2008 There's been some serious colonic irrigation gone on through this squad this season. I'd liken it to being fairly hungry, panicking and eating an un-cooked Jalfrezi. Then spending then next few days squitting it out and ending up back where you started, peckish and in need of some nutrition. What a waste of a season/meal really, horrendous.
Guest ttfn Posted 1 February 2008 Posted 1 February 2008 One thing screams out to me from that list. We've got to get Kisnorbo on a new contract
lookwhaticando Posted 1 February 2008 Posted 1 February 2008 Looks a lot more trim than the squad we've been lumbered with all season. And that's a step in the right direction at least.
Dames Posted 1 February 2008 Posted 1 February 2008 Looks alot better than the current squad. We'd need some heavy investment for wingers. A new GK. (Fulop hopefully) Maybe a center midfielder and a center back. Oh and a left back. If we get quality in them positions then next season will look very good indeed.

You've done that before, haven't you Ric? Or at least eaten an inadvisible 3-day old-er from the back of the fridge?

Ollie has a history of stockpiling forwards given half a chance, I'd only expect to see some go if he can replace them (unless the under-utilised one's ask to leave). But we have gone from having a huge squad to a barely viable one in a season where we were meant to be pushing for the top end. No if's, no but's, Mandaric is responsible for this. I can accept that there are reasons not to start buying big in January - but there are none that I will accept in the summer. We need quality and we need a fair bit of it so he is going to have to open up the wallet.

davieG Posted 1 February 2008 Author Posted 1 February 2008 Hammond? Don't forget Hammond. I believe his contract expires in July My emotions are all mixed up.

Yes we definately need quality putting back into our squad and as most know quality costs. Now we've already seen takeovers at some championship clubs, most notably QPR, this season and there'll more than likely be some more next season. So all this money that the other clubs will be getting proberly more than MM has (now i'm just guessing here, I don't actually know but QPR have been linked with alot of our 'potential' signings so far and they DO have more dosh than us) So if more clubs get more dosh how many potential transfer of ours will be scuppered by them? And if they are looking touch and go will MM up his dosh? On the positive side, maybe we'll be doing more 'Oakley on the quiet deals' that nobody seems to know about until its a done deal

Mittel is the 5th richest man in the world, he makes Roman Abramavich look positively middle income...
