:(

This on a day where the Premier League is concentrating on gaining more money abroad.

Words fail me, they really do.

Do people now think the 10 point penalties make a mockery of league tables? Surely there must be another punishment? To me this punishes the fans, not the business men responsible for making the decisions which can lead to the necessity of administration. It also allows teams who in terms of performance over the course of a season are deserving of relegation to survive, and who haven't deserved promotion to achieve it, potentially at least.

The clubs pretty much all voted for it in a jealous rage at LCFC failing to realise that even if we'd have had the 10 points deducted we'd still have gone up. It really is a shame that hey didn't actually deduct points from us.

Do you really expect the authorities to take into account the affect on fans?

Just a thought. If Bouremouth are paying Max wages, then they might have to send him back?

Or maybe Milan would be so kind to pay his wages if he isn't already.

Struggling Bournemouth have gone into administration and will be docked 10 points, report BBC Radio Solent.

Bournemouth's debts are believed to total around £4m and the points deduction will send them to the foot of the League One table.

A press conference has been called for Friday where chairman Jeff Mostyn is expected to detail the club's plight.

Business recovery specialists Begbies Traynor have been appointed as the club's administrators.

The club were handed a winding-up petition by HM Revenue & Custom earlier this week but they disputed the situation.

Although BBC Solent understands there are ongoing discussions with parties committed to its long-term future, Bournemouth have had no choice but to enter into administration.

Bournemouth are currently third from bottom of League One and face fellow strugglers Luton on Saturday.

The club made five members of staff redundant on Wednesday as part of its cost cutting.

I certainly hope we're letting them keep Gradel for free.

As I said on another forum, £200k from each Prem club would save them. For a player like Cristiano Ronaldo, £200k is less than two weeks wages.

With the PL chasing their next billion across the world, noone will ever know that little Bournemouth got fooked over. Tragedy.

It's tricky to think of any punishment that wouldn't punish the fans, even if it's only indirectly. With success in football so tied up now with how much cash a club has, a financial penalty is ultimately probably going to cost the club points and amount to much the same thing

It's all very well blaming every body else and saying the rich clubs should bail them out, but Bournemouth are responsible for Bournemouth's problems. Why not give 2 weeks of Ronaldo's wages to all the teams who didn't live beyond their means.

As for a points deduction punishing the genuine fans what else can the league do? It's no good fining a team that's already in administration.

Typical.

Won't be long before a team eventually folds.

It will hurt everyone even if it is your rivals.

Typical football

It's sad when this happens to a team.

As the article says, it now means Bournemouth, who were sturggling already are now 11 points off safety. That's going to be some feat to get out of that.

You've got all this bollocks about proposed Premier League games abroad making yet more money for top clubs and then there's the rest who struggle to get by at times.

Scarborough did. Went into meltdown when they went down into the Conference a while back, went out of business last summer.

Bournemouth are in the end a business. If they can't balance the books then like many businesses around the country they'll cease trading.

Sad but true.

There are plenty of clubs in lower leagues steeped in as much history willing and able to take their place.

....................and to be fair Bournemouth have a catchment area of 380,000 yet only get 5700 a game so it's not as if the people of Bournemouth are crying out for football.

Correct and i sympathise with them.

But until a league club is hit nobody in the FA will take notice.

In fairness 374,300 of the catchment area stink of piss and use zimmer frames.

That's what I was thinking.

I once got told by some Southampton folk that people only go to Bournemouth to die. Harsh maybe, funny definitely.

The Government is a big enough business yet never balances its books.

At the end of March 2007 general government debt was £574.4 billion, equivalent to 42.6 per cent of GDP.

That's called an overdraft and there is nobody to call it in.

Furthermore, I don't recall any of our youngsters who should be playing for us ahead of everybody else being out on loan to AFC Government.

No doubt you'll now tell me that 8 year old Ivor Biggun is there till the end of the season though.

There might be no-one to call it in but the Government sure takes ever increasing portions of our money to keep funding it, and the estimated deficit for 2006/2007 alone was £34 BILLION.

Yet little Bournemouth can go down the pan for the price of a few MP fiddles or the fee for a handful of Blairs after dinner speeches.

Never mind Maxi-Alain will save the day!

Ivor Biggun's being kept under wraps for later! :D:P
