Alexikokopops Posted 19 February 2008 Posted 19 February 2008 So fighting with gloves on is a proper fight?? No way, as much as i like Boxing, that is not a proper fight!! What are you talking about? Quite often outside a nightclub I've seen the locals don their gloves and proceed in a noble bout of fisticuffs, with no low blows, legs, elbows or teeth involved at all.

Im going to get my chequebook, how much do i write it out for so that THIS happens!!! And did you get hurt when you went on Jerry Springer? (someone had to say it)
Tommy G Posted 19 February 2008 Posted 19 February 2008 So fighting with gloves on is a proper fight?? No way, as much as i like Boxing, that is not a proper fight!! I think you'll find that the gloves are used to protect oppenents. If a heavyweight hit you full on without gloves, then you would probably die from a head trauma. It's the rules im afraid. Why don't footballers play football with boots on, the brazilians on the beach don't they bare footed? Is that proper football? Same kind of thing really. I would watch Amir Kahn any day over some smacked up yobs fighting in the street after a few beers.

Wrong "Now boxers wear gloves; not to protect an opponent's face but to safeguard their hands" a history of boxing gloves
Manwell Pablo Posted 19 February 2008 Posted 19 February 2008 Wrong"Now boxers wear gloves; not to protect an opponent's face but to safeguard their hands" a history of boxing gloves It's to protect both, quite obviously.
James. Posted 19 February 2008 Posted 19 February 2008 What a surprise that a thread called "Fight Club" has got Mr Muscle all aggressive.
Manwell Pablo Posted 19 February 2008 Posted 19 February 2008 What a surprise that a thread called "Fight Club" has got Mr Muscle all aggressive. **** me? Finners?
andyh1884 Posted 19 February 2008 Posted 19 February 2008 It's to protect both, quite obviously. There's no place for reasoned and rational thought here, it's not being applied by everyone so no-one should use it. Fight! Fight! Fight!
Thracian Posted 19 February 2008 Posted 19 February 2008 During the Joe Bugner/Alan Minter/Dave "Boy" Green era I wrote about boxing and one of the bouts which remains most vivid was Bugner's fight against Richard Dunne. Bugner, part of the St Ives based Andy Smith stable, was known as a gentle giant of the ring, in part I'm quite sure, because one of his opponents, Ulric Regis, died from brain injuries after being outpointed by Bugner at Shoreditch Town Hall. However, after a short retirement, Bugner returned to boxing and was soon fighting Richard Dunne at Wembley for the British, Commonwealth and European title. Dunne was singularly disrespectful in the build-up. I knew both Joe and his sister and it was clear that Bugner was livid. The gentle giant became a vicious aggressor and Dunne was mercilessly pummelled to defeat in a single round. Other fighters, Dave "Boy" Green in particular, were always wonderfully good value, Green for his legendary "muckraker" punches that started somewhere near the floor, but that Bugner round was the most destructive I personally watched and Dunne, never the greatest boxer, was so totally destroyed he too must have feared for his life all the way up to his knock-out. PS: I thought it might take off big time at Derby last season during half-time but, in the end it petered out a bit tamely!
James. Posted 19 February 2008 Posted 19 February 2008 **** me? Finners? I've only seen his Facebook picture but yes, there really is a resemblance!
Alexikokopops Posted 19 February 2008 Posted 19 February 2008 I'll laugh at others peoples jokes, yours are of a poor standard however It wasn't even intended as a joke, it was more about making my point that while boxers pack a punch and could dominate a number of people in a fight I don't view it as proper fighting (and not because of gloves). Elbows, knees, headbutts and ball kicking are all involved in proper fighting in my view. The fact there are rules in boxing indicates, to me, it's not a proper "fight". I'm not saying boxers are weak and I'm not saying they're big girly men. Now have at you **** me? Finners? HAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHJdhjsph[fyasdtge9rgsrdgfd
Darkzzz_ Posted 19 February 2008 Author Posted 19 February 2008 I'll laugh at others peoples jokes, yours are of a poor standard however Idiot Come on!! Lighten up FFS! It was a laugh...
