Mark Posted 18 March 2005 Posted 18 March 2005 http://www.lcfc.premiumtv.co.uk/page/News/...~642111,00.html "I just can't understand why the West Ham 'keeper didn't get sent off after he had brought down Stephen Hughes. For me it was an absolute certain red-card. Their nearest player was six or seven yards away when it happened."We were left to hang on in the end but it was our third game in the space of six days which have all been away from home. "The players performed miracles in the last 15 minutes. They threw themselves in front of everything and were determined not to lose another goal. But we should never have been in that position. We should have won the game comfortably if the referee hadn't have had such a major influence on the match. "We were quite comfortable at half time and I felt as though we had done ok in the first half. "The start of the second period was always going to be vital depending on how West Ham came out and how we managed to cope with them. "We were looking tired the longer the game went on. Keith Gillespie picked up a knock on his ankle and Danny Tiatto was suffering with his hamstring. "A lot of things went against us tonight but it is a hard place to come to get points and we certainly deserved the draw for the amount of effort we put in. "Nikos was trying to get a block in but it has taken a deflection, shot up off Ian Walkers's boot and hit him on the hand. It's just unlucky. He didn't feel that it was deliberate handball as he simply spread himself to try and prevent a goal. That's what we would expect him to do. But it happened and it is unfortunate that we are going to miss him for our next match "Ian Walker did well because he made a mistake for Watford's first goal on Tuesday night and he was pleased that he had made up for that tonight with his penalty save. I'm pleased for him because he has done well for us. "It's been a difficult week. We would have liked to have picked up more points and progressed in the cup but things haven't gone how we would have liked. "But we have shown good character again and that point may be vital." "Jordan has popped his shoulder out and that is one for the doctor to have a look at."
Cat Burger Posted 19 March 2005 Posted 19 March 2005 I really think he is over praising them, I thought only Hughes was above average today. We were crap in my opinion.
Steven Posted 19 March 2005 Posted 19 March 2005 I really think he is over praising them, I thought only Hughes was above average today. We were crap in my opinion. 80605 Unfair. We were good in a lot of places, but weak in a few other... Tiatto.

filbertway Posted 19 March 2005 Posted 19 March 2005 To be fair to them they must have been absolutley shattered, and the more i think about it the better the result seems.
Anish Posted 19 March 2005 Posted 19 March 2005 To be fair to them they must have been absolutley shattered, and the more i think about it the better the result seems. 80640 I agree - it would be harsh imo to slate the players when they have just played 3 games in 6 days. And Levein has slated the team before - Rotherham at home springs to mind.
Chimp Posted 19 March 2005 Posted 19 March 2005 To be fair to them they must have been absolutley shattered, and the more i think about it the better the result seems. 80640 It was a good result. West Ham away is always going to be a difficult game, one in which most teams in the division would struggle. A point is good. Also, slating the players for loosing the lead when they were visibly exhausted after 60-70 minutes, but had continued to battle, is not a good way to motivate them.
Bedford Fox Posted 19 March 2005 Posted 19 March 2005 I agree he doesn't seem to give them a good kick up the arse. We went into the 2nd half a goal up and put our feet up - typical city He dosent slate them in public which is right! We dont know what was said in the dressing room!
SilverFox Posted 19 March 2005 Posted 19 March 2005 The team is a confidence team...which most of the time we are low on. It would be dangerous to break what confidence and belief remains!
Ash Posted 20 March 2005 Posted 20 March 2005 I agree with Levein that the West Ham goalkeeper should of been sent off !
Frenzied Posted 21 March 2005 Posted 21 March 2005 Don't understand why anyone would say we played badly. I thought we played pretty well against a West Ham side that also played well. Hughes had a great game but so did many of the other players - McCarthy in particular. Levein's right to praise the team.
