Can I become a Sikh?

What does it involve?

Do I have to believe anything which is blatantly a load of sh it (like Christianity)?

I think you get to wear bright orange shirts and parade around the streets with silver swords... you also get to grow a nice beard.

Yes, you can!!

What does involve?? Nothing much, just a solemn declaration to believe in no other then the one true god and believe the Granth Sahib (Holy Book) to be your guide!! Nothing else is mandatory!!

'Blatant SHite'??? I'm not too sure with what you mean, but Sikhism is a very simple faith, it has no boundaries or limitations and does not believe in myths, magic or rituals as such. The whole purpose of the Sikh faith is 'to learn', learn about man, the world and attempt to reach a higher concious, hence there are various different types of SIkhs, all which can be defined with how much they have learned, or accepted as part of there belief!!

Sikhs aren't a missionary faith, they don't believe SIkhism is the only way to enlightment, SIkhism believes it is your deeds and your concious that counts then reading a holy book, or sacrificing sheep, humanity being the key!!

If you have any questions, I will try my best to answer them!!!!

:giggle: That's Khalsa SIkhs (saint soldiers), they are Sikhs who have taken an outh to do service to mankind, to fight upheaval and fight for the truth!! They are considered the highest of Sikhs and should be learned!!

they have a distinct identity, the 5K's, hence they cannot or should not shun there duties!!
