Mercury offer for City tickets for Hull Game...

Recommended Posts

Was sitting eating my subway today reading the Merc and it had an offer...

If you collect the voucher from todays merc ( wed) and the voucher from tomorrows merc then you can buy one adult ticket for the Hull game for 8 quid.

season ticket holders can do the same and buy one for a friend for only 5 quid.

Just thought it might interest a few....

just a note, the form you need to complete in conjunction with 2 tokens is ONLY available in tomorrows mercury, dont be a fool like me and go and buy 4 copies today lol

29,000 turn up.

Any other match, the attendance shoots back down to 22,000.

yes more than likely.

But i can see Milan's logic.... 7,000 more £8's than normal... few more pies and programs sold too

and MAYBE if we play well there will be some lad or lass hooked from their first city game = more money in the future.

I was hooked on my first city game and havnt looked back since!!

Dont think all these offers are fair on season ticket holders, though... but thats a discussion for countless other threads. lol

Do you not like the fact that we will have a decent turn out?

Just because a lot of people cant afford £20 odd quid for every home game (lets not even mention the Away days, part time or fairweather support bull sh*t!!) doesnt mean that they are any less of a supporter than season ticket holders.

I think that its superb that Milan is aware of the financial factor and is giving all City fans the chance to see the team play and a reasonable price.

(** I would also like to add however, I think he should in someway compensate ST holders for these Fans fixtures!!)

What was the point of getting a season ticket this season? It has become cheaper to buy match tickets every week

No it hasn't.

No it hasn't.

You're right it hasn't. It's just that it feels like that sometimes when you hear about all the offers that become available

I'd Disagree.

I know a lot, well just about all, of my tickets have been for free, but I still think that STH don't save much, if any.

There are only 3 "fans' fixtures" in a season, and all ST holders are told about them before buying.

Next season, the whispers are there'll be no such fixtures at all, unless the Mercury steps in with another subsidy as they're doing for this game.

The catering is contracted out, we don't make any more money if the attendances go up.

Shame. Is that normal? Considering the prices it's appalling the club doesn't get some of that.

Exactly. You'd think that they would do it themselves. Not really hard to do is it? :dunno:

How good was the mass exodus yesterday on 70 minutes?!? Gota love the point of free tickets. Way to get behind the team, eh?? lol:D

Are the Mercury doing the same this week? I was going to go to the game on Satuday but I've just seen a Lewis Hammilton F1 Car figure which will look great in my display cabinet and too be honest I'm much more excited at the prospect of that than spending £20 on the football.

The tickets weren't free.

Those fans didn't just waste money, they also wasted time on a bunch of fcukwits who didn't deserve a 3000 crowd let alone 30000.

Save your sarcasm for those who really deserve it.

Wasn't sarcasm, was a fair observation I'd say. But that's a lie really isn't it, 'cos everything that disagrees with you is clearly wrong or sarcastic and designed to cause controversy.

They wasted between £3 and £8, as a one-off, and will not come back until there are more discounted tickets. It gave them something to do on a Saturday afternoon and prevented them wasting more money shopping in town which they probably do every weekend. I'm so sorry, how bad of me to laugh at those people for leaving after 70 minutes for a one-off game when STH's and regulars put up with it week in, week out.

lol you are a funny character, Ultra.

As has been stated elsewhere on these boards, it wasn't just the day trippers who left early. And it wasn't like they missed anything significant in the last 20 minutes.

The fans showed their faith by turning up, only to be kicked in the teeth yet again.

But if you want to let those responsible for fcuking up folks' afternoons escape scott-free, that's your prerogative.

Doesn't mean we have to agree with you, though..

Never said you had to agree with me, unlike you I don't try and force my opinion on others. I merely state mine and then be done with it.

It's no so much letting people responsible for "fcuking up folks' afternoons escape scott-free" per-sé, I just find it laughable when a crowd that had swelled in size by around 10,000 due to the offer, a crowd that had been largely silent all game and done nothing to get behind the team for the most-part, start chanting "what a load of rubbish" and the like. I don't think that's entirely unreasonable of me, Ultra. At least in terms of common sense. No doubt you do, though.

The rationale behind it was that it was costing the club money when disposing of the unsold food (I say dispose, local homeless shelters benefitted to be fair). Rather than facing this cost themselves, they decided to tender the catering. That way they are not responsible for any leftover food, and the cynic in me sees a great excuse when a company trying to make a profit from this run out of food at half-time. It's happened far too often for it to be a coincidence, in my opinion.

There's nothing wrong with an honest profit. Any business that sets out to lose money won't be in business long. If you're fed up with them running out of food, have something to eat before you go in.
