I am too young to remember Gary playing for LCFC, however I do remember him being the hero of England in 1990 which is the 1st world cup I remember, which was a great world cup. I remember that I knew he was from Leicester and was really so proud that someone from near where I lived was doing the business for England in every game it seemed to me.

Gary was always in the right place at the right time and seemed to be able to score when everyone else seemed incapable of doing so. When Gary was still on the pitch you felt that you would always be in with a chance of scoring, which is why Graham Taylor gets vilified when we lost to Sweden and missed USA 94!

Gary is also a top bloke, it's great to see him on the T.V still making some sort of contribution, I don't know of any Englishman who could have a bad thing to say about him not even from our local rivals.

LEGEND!

I loved when we played Blackburn in the quater-finals of the FA cup a few years back and he decorated the whole MOTD studio in City gear.

It made the pub clap :)

Yeah I remember that, choked on my potato.

Is there a picture anywhere?

Lineker, Lynex and Smith - 50 between them in a season.

How long before that happens again...if ever?

Best number 8 to play for the city. (IMO - have only been watching since the early 80's).

Marshall... Iconic City Player.

Legend? Not for me..... >_<

What's the difference between Iconic and Legend? One man's icon is another man's legend, besides the fans on here think he was, I guess that legendary staus might have something to do with the goal he scored in Europe :dunno:

First two seasons - every ball was skillfully gifted into the upper tier of the double decker from the edge of the 6 yard box.

But I danced with him on MOTD in front of the family end...I wish I still had that Beta tape.

*whistfully* Oh Beta, you were the king of video formats...

we lost to sweden and also missed usa 94?

sweden knocked us out of euro 92, norway and holland beat us in qualifying for usa 94.

yes, taylor was in charge for those times but lineker retired from international football after euro 92 and wasnt involved in the world cup qualifying debacle.
