I don't think the 9 fact makes people believe we're big anymore than Cov think their big because they won the FA Cup once but it does give a sense of pride, besides the two things, remaining in the nine and staying up are inextricably linked lose one and you've lost both of them so I don't see how it hurts to attempt to use it as a motivational tool. Davie, the boats effing sank, now what do we do?
Corky Posted 4 May 2008 Posted 4 May 2008 I don't particularly care what other fans think of us, I was proud of being part of that "elite" club of 9. Now that's gone. It hurts like hell, it can never come back.

Gillingham and Luton will be in League 2 now, Luton nearly made the playoffs in the Championship a few seasons ago, and didn't Gillingham make an Fa Cup Quarter or Semi Final or something and also just missed out on the Championship playoffs not that long ago i seem to remember Crewe and Millwall both former Championship teams are also down near the bottom of League 1. Rotherham finished 9th in League 2 this season, they were in the Championship a few seasons ago. And Bradford, i remember when they beat us 4-2 in the Premiership, finished 10th in League2. Going down to League 1 could spell further disaster, money clearly can't buy you success. Everyone in league 1 will desperately want to beat us too. Who knows in 4 seasons time, we may need to win our final game in League 1 to stay up. We thought we would come straight back up when we were relegated from the Premiership. I agree with the dangers, but I wouldnt say money cant buy you success based on ourselves. Clearly it has worked for clubs like wigan and fulham, even pompy who MM bankrolled to promotion.
lildave3 Posted 4 May 2008 Posted 4 May 2008 We have fallen out of the club of 9.We are a division below Derby, Wolves, Cov, Forest etc. We are dooooooomed. That's what hurts the most for me.
