foxesfan69 Posted 26 March 2005 Posted 26 March 2005 Obviously it is good that CL sees that we need a goalscorer but i don't actually think that that Connolly and MDV are that bad. With a bit of confidence next year we could have 2 of the divisions top goalscorers.

P.S people - Don'tget too excited, apparently the news of Connolly signing was going to bring us automatic promotion this season Its nice to hear all the good things about Sturm but I personally don't understand how some people are saying, "This season a write off, lets forget about this season, we'll do good next season though"...Well wasn't that the plan this season? Its not happened has it? Hopefully it will happen next season, but all i'm saying is don't get too excited because we all did that this season and we have all been very disappointed, so whats stopping that next season? and don't blame the whole thing on Micky Adams ok maybe he does deserve some of the blame but be honest how many people said "As soon as we get Connolly i'll be more confident of automatic promotion"? be honest again how many of you praised Micky Adams for the signing of Connolly?...vertually everyone who uses this messageboard! And now those very same people are saying "Typical Adams signing" - but wasn't connolly automatically our best player, before he'd even kicked a ball in a LCFC shirt? All i'm saying is don't get too excited about Jani Sturm, hopefully he will do well, but personally I don't judge players automatically on there past, I judge them on what they do in a LCFC shirt.

Sturm is another smallish forward and not a targetman. Will CL ever get someone else to challenge the Duffer from Dordrecht I wonder?

Marian Pahars 5/1 - decent player but gets injured. Mikael Forssell 50/1 - Lineker-esque - by our standards (also gets injured!). What do you reckon?

Who ate all the pies? Posted 27 March 2005 Posted 27 March 2005 From what he was saying they were! He kind of thought that Sturm only agreed to go on trial at Darlo so his name would get spread about in English football. Still I'm a lot less excited than I was.

I cannot find him this year but I do find him for the European games and the 2003/2004 season where he got 10 goals. Who knows what he is like though I am sure there will be some down at the Walkers that will get on his back after ten minutes.
Ric Flair Posted 29 March 2005 Posted 29 March 2005 As i've said, Levein went wild about a Slovenian whizkid at the Q & A session and this must be him. Levein doesn't get overly excited unless he has good reason to, so although I don't want to get carried away I guess this lad will be talented. What I will say is if he hasn't been playing much, how does Levein know he's anygood from his recent scouting mission? I predict that Levein has known about this lad from his time at Hearts, because last season Sturm did very well by all accounts. I think we should look at more players from Slovenia, Finland, Latvia, etc. If Sturm is as good as Pahars has been for Southampton before his injuries or Kuqi has been for Ipswich then we will have made a good purchase.
