Interesting...at least CL recognises that we do need somebody up front who can stick it in the back of the net.

Tried seraching the web for information on this player but there really isn't much.

Levein must see something special in him to bring him over from Slovenia. I'm excited by this because this isn't usually the route we take for transfer dealings.

Lets hope he is quality :D

According to the Mercury he's a midfielder as in

"City Boss moves for midfielder"

and "Leicester City are fixing up a summer move for midfielder Jani Strm"

If he does not cost too much then where is the risk. Spending £5 million on Akimbadbuy was a risk. Also he has played Champions League football. :D:D:thumbup:;)

Good luck to the lad, when he comes here.:unsure::rolleyes::P:thumbup:;)

70 goals in just over 180 games i believe.

Mind you the Slovenian league must rank along side the Ryman league to be honest.

He's obviously quite small and lightweight. I hope he can cope with the rigours of the English game. Maybe he'll be the new Marian Pahars

Newspaper headline writers will be wetting themselves waiting for his first winning goal " Slovenian goes down a Sturm " - smug smiles on their faces.

Call me cynical, which I am ;) . but the timing of this announcement, considering it's not done and dusted seems a tad too convenient to be happening prior to the imminent availablility of season tickets.

Just a thought

You are cynical with good reason. This announcement as you rightly point out serves at least one function and probably two. One as you say the season ticket angle and to my way of thinking it takes some sting out of the shirts debate.:unsure::rolleyes::( <_<

Im looking forward to this there seems to be excitment in the ranks!

But i hope he has been scouted to his full potential! As CL knows he has a premiership side and wants to sign premiership players.

His Birthday is the day after mine!!! :D :D

Looks good, good on Craig Levein for going for a player who knowbodys heard of, must be something good about him!!

It's hardly a signing which will be provoke much excitement in all honesty. However, you probably have a point...

I presume this is the lad we've been hearing about- from the Q & A session was it? He sounds promising, but then its easy to say that as we dont really know much about him! I do agree with what has been said above though... the timing is awfully fishy...

Posted

Does anyone know anything about him. I cant any information on the net about him

Average goals/ match would be good.

I think this must be the whizkid that Levein was on about a few weeks ago. So I would imagine the deal is done and dusted otherwise we wouldn't of been told about it yet. Levein mentioned it weeks ago at the Q & A but I imagine that was before the deal was done and now he's told us it's a done deal.

I imagined he'd be about 16/17 though the way Levein was talking about him, but he's still young and he's scored some important goals for his club. I've done some research and it appears that he has been prolific leading up until this season, but this season he's only scored about 5 times. Although they have only played 21 times this season in the league and Sturm has only played in about 15 of them.

I think Levein has been very shrewd at looking for players from countires like Slovenia. Slovenia are getting better and better each year and have some quality players, we may well have unearthed one. Levein doesn't get over excited about players without due course like he did with Hughes and look how he's doing. I think there's course for optimism with this lad, but players do take time to settle.

Anyway what the ****, i'm over the moon. In my eyes he sounds like a world beater. 100 points and goals next season. COME ON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Champions Nova Gorica enjoyed a 2-1 win at bitter rivals Maribor to stay top, a point ahead of Murska Sobota, who strolled to a 2-0 home win over Zagorje.

An Andrej Komac header after a swift break and a fine shot from Jani Sturm gave the champions a 2-0 lead at Maribor before the hosts pulled one back through Dominik Bersnjak to set up a dramatic finish.

Patrik Ipavec and Marko Bozic struck either side of halftime to keep Murska Sobota in touch with the leaders while third-placed Ajdovscina beat Celje 1-0 thanks to a Matej Mlakar effort three minutes from time.

Leaders Nova Gorica enjoyed a 2-1 win at fourth-placed champions Maribor to edge close to their first league title.

They maintained a four-point advantage over Olimpija Ljubljana, 2-1 winners over Murska Sobota.

Jani Sturm capitalised on a defensive blunder and Mladen Kovacevic rounded off a good team move to give Gorica a 2-0 lead before Dominik Bersnjak netted a last-minute consolation goal for the home side.

Two close-range efforts by Marko Kmetec gave Olimpijathe win over Murska Sobota, who scored the goal of the weekend in Slovenia through Manuel Persic -- a 25-metre scorcher into the top corner.
