Billy Kee

goalscoring seems to be a problem for us

so why spend so much money when we have the best goalscorer in the reserves league

I saw Billy Kee score a hat-trick against aston villa reserves a couple of months ago

and their defence had people like Zat Knight and Stylian Petrov in it

he's scoring for fun at the moment so surely we should give him a try in the first team???

When did he last score? Last I knew he was injured.

Petrov is an attacking midfielder! No woder he scored an hat-rick if he was in defence!!

As I understand, Billy Kee and his mate Billy McKay are very prolific for the under 18's side and score occasionally for the reserves.

They're still very young so I don't think the best time to bring them in is when we're fighting for our lives in a relegation dog fight.

What if one of them made a mistake? That'd ruin their confidence for good.

I think we should send them both out on loan for a season, let them get a bit of first team experience.

Has the same injury that ended the career of Mitchell Rowley.

I used to work with Mitchalls dad Mick!

I new he had a lot of injuries but didnt know he as finished, is this true!

Big shame if it is, good solid defender!

He's been released :o Booo.

Bit of a bad age to be released really, normally I swear they find out if they get a contract at the end of the season. Were they both on proffesional contracts?

I don't know about Billy Kee but the issue over whether the last 3 games of a relegation battle are the right time to bring in players like him is an interesting one. Lots of people seem to just write the idea off because "we need experience" and "it'll ruin their confidence if they f**k up" and "there nerves won't hold".

To be honest they all might be valid reasons in another team but this season, with this team, would it REALLY do any damage to give some of these lads a go? I don't expect Holloway to do anything other than play the usual first team players (it's the (alleged) safe option isn't it) but I'm starting to think that's a real shame and could possibly cost us, however optimistic I try to be.

I should stop now as I feel like I'm turning into Thracian. But I feel the point is an important one.

That is a shame, i think he would of turnrd out to be a good defender, never had chance to prove himself in the youth team!

Dont know much about Frazer Tuttle.

Mitch is a real top lad. He was so unlucky with injuries and that. Fraze has defo been given the boot.

Billy Kee is out injured and McKay won't even be in the reckoning yet so neither has a one in 10m chance of being even in the squad tomorrow.

But this idea that kids will lose all confidence if they make a mistake or are somehow more likely to make mistakes than seniors in misguided.

Have you got any kids? My 21-year-old is off sky diving over Las Vegas this summer. A mistake might get him killed, Heaven forbid, but he's made plenty of mistakes ski-jumping/snowboarding and I don't see it denting his confidence and that's not unusual. His brothers and all his close mates are just the same as are many other kids, especially the ones in Iraq and Afghanistan.

The better Academy lads have played stacks of football in all sorts of situations and I've never noticed them being unusually nervous nor any of them losing confidence if things go wrong which is rare enough anyway. Quite the contrary. They never seem to believe they're beaten and Stearman/Wesolowski have often reflected this in the first team.

Of course they can make mistakes and Mattock, for instance, has. But it's no more likely than Henderson, McAuley, Kisnorbo, Clapham or Fryatt who've all blundered quite recently as well. In fact over recent years I'd say it's seniors who have dropped the most and the bigger clangers but then there's been more seniors in the team. I don't actually feel that, as a club, our players make that many glaring individual mistakes at all.

As a problem it comes a long way down the list.

If, after a season, established players have left us in the relegation zone with three matches to go, I cannot see why introducing a fringe player like Beswick or King would add to the risks. It may work, it may not. But I've seen no signs that either are more vulnerable to making daft mistakes than anyone else. In fact, over three years, both have been consistency personified.

Victor Moses, John Bostock and Sean Scannell have all broken into the Crystal P{alce side this year and there just as young as Billy

I should hope not he is like 15.

Can see what you are saying about the confidence factor, especially when Mattock's confidence has been high he has been one of our better players.
