Leicester City Chairman Milan Mandaric says the 'amazing loyalty' shown by the club's supporters was the driving force behind his decision to FREEZE season ticket prices for the upcoming 2008-09 campaign.

Adult prices again start from just £275 - which equates to less than £12 per match.

Meanwhile, the club will continue to look to the future by offering free season tickets to Under 8s in the Marks Electrical Family Stand.

The Foxes had considered increasing prices in line with rising running costs.

But in the wake of Saturday's battling 1-0 victory over Barnsley, Mandaric has taken the bold step to reward supporters for the tremendous loyalty they have shown throughout the campaign.

He said: "I sat in the Director's Box before the game on Saturday and I looked across to our supporters.

"It was an incredible sight and it made me extremely proud. We had gone into that game in the relegation places - yet 4,000 fans made the trip in the freezing cold.

"There is no doubt in my mind that those supporters roared us on to that victory on Saturday. They have shown amazing loyalty and they deserve to be rewarded.

"It is true that I had contemplated raising season ticket prices for the upcoming campaign.

"I have invested heavily in the playing squad and also on improving the infrastructure at the club.

"But driving home from the game I decided that I had to reward our supporters for all their efforts. It would have been easy for them to roll over and die - but they were there when we needed them most and I can't thank them enough.

"It is fair to say that I am disappointed with the way things have gone for us since I arrived at the club.

"But that has not, in any way, dampened my enthusiasm to get us back where we belong.

"Together we can make it happen."

Season tickets will be available for fans to purchase from Thursday, April 24 at 9am.

- Season tickets frozen at last season's prices on all purchases before May 31, 2008.

- Adult prices start from less than £12 per game.

- An adult can save up to £232 compared to purchasing match tickets next season.

- New Direct Debit payment plan is available, allowing supporters the option to spread the cost until end of 2008.

- New 'Family Season Ticket' will be available, offering an additional 10% discount for families of four or more in the Marks Electrical Family Stand.

- 10% discount in the City Megastore guaranteed for 2008/09.

- Exclusive offers for Season Ticket Holders ONLY will be available every month from June 2008 through to May 2009.

I might be being a little naive here, but i'm going to give Mandaric some credit here. It was no secret that he was intending to put the prices up, probably because he needs to re-coup some cash. The fact that he's not putting the prices up now would suggest he's not disillusioned and ready to bail as the papers have made out.

Now either he'll sell our few assets to raise the money he needs or he'll throw yet more money at us in the attempt to get the promotion that he craves. I think there's life in Mr Mandaric yet and he'll be as mercurial as ever.

He's made mistakes, but i'm still confident he'll sort us out, possibly not promotion but at least a force to be reckoned with in this division.

It's not a criticism, in fact I'm glad they've announced them shows some confidence but we ain't half gonna look silly if we end up in Division 3. Because surely they cannot charge the same prices.

I'm in J2 too and you're right it is fecking dull, and god forbid you start to sing in that block. I've moved my ST seat to the kop for this game and will probably do it permanently for next season

Football is a business and I think that Milan has been incredibly generous in this offer as we should always expect prices to go up in line with inflation as happens with everyting in life. If our supporters still feel hard done by, may I offer them the opportunity to support Colchester United in League One in a brand new stadium where you can pick up a bargain adult season ticket for £400 or perhaps Brighton and Hove Albion for £600.

In the last few years the season ticket prices at Leicester have been very affordable and a lot cheaper than other clubs. I will regardless be pledging my support again in L1 no matter what the outcome. £12 a game for any League is cheap by any standards for a £275 season ticket. I hope our supporters realise that we have been given a good offer rather than a kick in the teeth for our loyalty.

Exactly. If Milan thought he could have hiked the season ticket prices up and still got a similar number renewing of course he would have done it in a flash. I don't think the prices are unreasonable in the context of how much modern football costs but I don't buy all the rubbish about the freeze being a reward for the loyal support.

Totally agree with foss1884, alternatively the 'disgruntled' could shell out £323 to sit in Yeovil Town's AgustaWestland Stand and watch 'lower half' League 1 football (so, okay they've had a dreadful second half to their season after making a Wembley trip last year), but come on keep it in context ... £275? Bargain, well done Milan! Be aware if we do take the drop, their away end is uncovered and totally exposed to the riches of the Somerset weather!
