Any Foxes in the Bath area?

Recommended Posts

I posted this on the tickets and travel section and didn't get much response so I'm going to post it here. Apologies if it's the wrong place but most people seem to read this forum the most!

I'm moving to Bath in July and really want to keep going to games next season (I've been a season ticket holder since 1996).

I won't have a car so I'm looking for a very kind person with a car who goes to games in the area (I;d obviously help with petrol costs) or a travel buddy for the long train journey.

I've advertised on liftshare with no luck so far!

Need to make a decision about Season ticket quite soon!!!

Thanks

Sarah

Hi Sarah,

There is a strong possibility I will be moving to the South West in the summer also; possibly Bridgwater or Wincanton. I have been a season ticket holder for years (see my profile) and will be coming back up to Leicester for home matches next year if I move. Mail me on here and we can swap details. If you do go to Bath make sure you visit Twerton Park. It has one of the best views from the away terrace you're likely to get in the UK. City played there when Bristol Rovers shared with Bath, so the Mighty Foxes have trod the turf. Close your eyes and you'll be able to see the ghosts of Steve Agnew and Skippy Oldfield floating above the grass.

Cheers.

Anyone watch Bath City.

Or Team Tax >_<

Run that one past me again?

Bath City are on the up as are Team Bath. It's the place to be, football wise. Ollie had his best years as a Gas Head there.

Ive seen both play

This season i saw Team Bath who were quality but had very few fans.

Bath City was a while ago, but their fans were awesome (i think).

I was an honorary Bath fan for a while as my ex- lived close by. Escaped from the in-laws on Saturday afternoons and nipped of to Twerton. Even managed a double header one day: City vs Bristol Rovers at Twerton and Yo-evil vs Bath at Yo-evil. Bath fans were there in numbers. I think 3 turned up! Not great travellers, even for their local hate team.

I didn't really expect much different..

I suppose the comments keep my thread on the first page for a bit..

I'm sure there are a couple of guys from Bristol who used to come on here.

Have you tried looking for bristol fox or west country fox type of user names in the members list?

A lot of members don't post that often but probably wouldn't mind a PM asking for a lift share.

I live in Newport but don't get up to home matches often enough to help you out sorry.

There are five with Bristol as the first word in their user name.

Sarah and others from the South West,

I live in Swindon and haven't lived in Leicester since I was 6 (1991...a long time ago!!) I sometimes trek it up to Leicester but having not lived in Leicester for so long, I hardly know any Leicester fans. I wont be a season ticket holder, but I need to find local(ish) people to travel and go with really. Wish I was going to the Wednesday game tomorrow though. :(

Never heard of this lift share thing is it any good?

Bath is really nice, in fact one of my favourite towns.

Hi

Basingstoke isnt too far from Swindon! Am i right that Swindon is a few more junctions down the M4 from Reading? How have you got to any home games since being stuck here down south?

Ive been waiting for some Leicester fan to be in this southern area for years now. Its not nice being a Leicester fan down here nobody else supports them!

Tell me about it! Yeah I went to Uni in Reading, Swindon is about 30 mins West. Lived in Oxford for a long time as well, and I hardly meet any fans this way. Just go with my dad occasionally but hes a Liverpool fan and I think only does it to be nice!..Also go to most local away games although I want to go to more games next season.

Usually drive but its a bit of a hassle, is the train easy and cheap(ish) do you know??

My aim is to eventually find a reasonable group of us all living this way to make it a bit more interesting

It would be great to have a small group of us, Im only quite young, last year I was getting child tickets on trains but now I have a student railcard which gives a 1/3 off you traintickets which is amazing. Today (as it is for every home game) Im going to Waterloo, going on a couple of underground trains and going from St Pancras to Leicester. If you get a specific train from St Pancras to Leicester, you can get very cheap advance tickets. Mine with a rail card came to about £23 overall for a return. Though i dont know what route Swindon trains take to go to London :dunno:

Also, which away games have you been to this season? I went to Southampton twice :frusty: Qpr, Palace, Cov (not local but ohwell) and Chelsea :worship:

Maybe we could all go to London games too.

I think from Bath the trains go via Birmingham. Not 100% sure though.

How long does the journey take you from Basingstoke?

About 2 and a half hours, thats why i dont go up too often (plus the money oh and usually crap football, and often poor atmosphere lol). But if there was a group I would be more interested in going. Also there are trains that go from Basingstoke straight to Birmingham but i dont know how to get to Leicester from there.

If we all move to the SW, maybe we could form a club and hire a coach, (well mini-bus, well van) for match days? Just a thought. Alternatively could The Walkers Stadium come to us?

Surely that takes loads longer than getting the Southampton to Derby train, then from there to Leicester?

...Or maybe just buy the club and move from Leicester. We could be called the South West Foxes. If were truly going to follow the MK Dons business plan, can I suggest Swindon, as it already has the roundabout infrastructure!
