Ultra Posted 27 April 2008 Posted 27 April 2008 Christ, youre trying to claim now that noise matters, that being the loudest club is something worthy?Talk about clutching at straws, i mean i know youve got nowt to cheer about, nowt worthy in the trophy cabinet so i suppose you do have to talk up anything you can be judged by. Most of the noise is probably moaning about being mediocre since your creation. At least we've been the top team in our city ever since our creation, a record the trees can't match.. Before Clough arrived, you were a poor relation of Notts County and heading for the oblivion you deserved.
boothenend Posted 27 April 2008 Posted 27 April 2008 surely this is not a nottingham forest fan taking the michael out of stoke....just look at yourselves when i do i just laugh.your not famous anymore haha.

All the dust that's been gathering over the numerous decades needs clearing out. surely this is not a nottingham forest fan taking the michael out of stoke....just look at yourselves when i do i just laugh.your not famous anymore haha. We weren't all that famous anyway.

lee7 Posted 27 April 2008 Posted 27 April 2008 We weren't all that famous anyway. i think he was talking to the forest fan.
Guest Posted 27 April 2008 Posted 27 April 2008 i think he was talking to the forest fan. It's hard to know who he's talking to, to be fair. Multi-tasking appears to be a bit of a problem....
Finnegan Posted 27 April 2008 Posted 27 April 2008 I think a lot of you are seriously forgetting how poor the atmosphere in the Walkers has been for most of the season. I know our away support is vocal and solid but I don't think you can really claim we're the best fans in the division on the merits of yesterday's game alone.

I thought about saying the same, but didn't want to enter that road.
Finnegan Posted 27 April 2008 Posted 27 April 2008 I thought about saying the same, but didn't want to enter that road. Don't get me wrong, I don't particularly blame us. It's difficult when you've got about 10'000 empty seats, you're watching God-awful football and we can't buy a win at home. I'm just saying we really haven't been especially great this year. Or the year before. Or many seasons, tbh, since the ground move.

Or the year before. Or many seasons, tbh, since the ground move. Yup. I think since we moved to the Walkers the expectation level has always been so high. People saw the move as a catapult to the next level as a football club and it never quite happened for one reason or another. It's a moaners paradise, with all the empty seats, crap atmosphere and teams coming to beat us 'cos we have a half decent stadium and are still considered a big club. When you go away, expectation levels are lower and you can enjoy yourself more. The first half yesterday was a breath of fresh air, but as I said to Sods at half time, we have to realise it was only a one off because of the occasion.
boothenend Posted 27 April 2008 Posted 27 April 2008 i take it you cant find anything championship youre having a laugh.
Finnegan Posted 27 April 2008 Posted 27 April 2008 I don't see why our expectations shouldn't be higher than the level we're currently at, though. We've a large fanbase that should indicate revenue, we've ample facilities for football training at a top-flight level, we should have prestige enough (though the last season or two has dented this) to attract players good enough to mount a play-off challenge, we've allegedly got a chairman with the finances to mount a play-off challenge (and the experience in having done so) and we're a group of supporters used to seeing top-flight or competitive second-flight football. The last few years are an absolute mystery and a culture shock to most of the younger generation of City fans brought up on Little, O'Neill and co'. Even the older supporters will have only seen us slump to such pathetic standards once or so in their lifetime. Is it too much to ask that we surpass the likes of Barnsley, S****horpe, Colchester and Blackpool with some relative comfort? It's not exactly as if I'm demanding instant promotion - but I don't think my "expectations are too high" when I expect a club of the 'size' of Leicester City to at least put out a squad "too good to go down." Leeds had huge financial instability as an excuse. What the FUCK is ours?

Leeds had huge financial instability as an excuse. What the FUCK is ours? Don't get me wrong, I agree. I was just trying to get across why I think we struggle at home. The players, for one reason or another have not been winning games and in my opinion have distinctly lacked confidence when playing in front of a good crowd at The Walkers. It shouldn't be the case, these players have played in front of equivalent crowds before, most anyway. Yesterday, we started well, in my opinion a correlation with the vocal support that was being dished out from the fans. When they equalized, we crumbled as fans and as a team. The second half, in many ways was like the average home match from this season. Plenty of nervous fans and equally nervous players. Every mistake was being jumped upon and moaned at. Rightly so, but in my opinion, that needs to be followed up with backing for the team. There is no doubt we're underachieving still, I think a lot of the fans that have witnessed the good eras of this club are starting to lose patience with the team.
