chichestergas Posted 6 May 2008 Posted 6 May 2008 What would leicester be in?I take it the winners of the north play the winners of the south in the 'main' final? It depends on the divide. I know Forest have been in the south split before. I believe Peterbrough have jumped between the north and sout dependant on the numbers that make up the split. You will have a north and south "final" over two legs. Then the Winners meet at wembley. Last season we beat Bristol C**y in the area final.

Ibbyfox Posted 6 May 2008 Posted 6 May 2008 Just a north and south split. all league 1 and 2 teams. There have been some top conference sides entered the last couple of years (defo last season maybe not this). Top 8 teams from previous year's conference league I think, 4 into North area and 4 into South. Not sure how they have done though. Am I sad for knowing that or what?!!

That was actually scrapped about 3/ 4 years ago mate. But you are right, the top 8 teams did qualify, but as I have said, that was a few years ago. An interesting point for Leicester to consider/know about. Teams can no longer just put out a reserve side (a la Arsenal in the League Cup). You have to field a side with a high percentage of first team players who have played in about 80% of the first team games that season, or the club gets fined. Its to try and attract larger crowds.

That long ago - bl**dy hell time flies!!! I stand corrected then I'm not so sad after all I'm relieved to say ........................
reynard Posted 6 May 2008 Posted 6 May 2008 Personally I think this is a great opportunity to play a lot of our youth team. If they do well then great if they lose then overall he competition doesn't really matter. If they are as good as Thracian says then they should be capable of holding their own at least.

I don't think that you canj play your youth team in the Paint Cup. Strange to be honest.

Boooooooooo!! Stamps out your idea then reynard ................ or maybe we could just pay the fine!
ekins11 Posted 6 May 2008 Posted 6 May 2008 I'm thinking that going to Kettering Town will be altogether more pleasurable. Now that would be interesting as i come from Kettering who would i support though?
reynard Posted 6 May 2008 Posted 6 May 2008 Read my above post, competition rules wont allow it! Fair enough seems a rather unfortunate rule as all clubs would be able to develop young players. How much is the fine??
iancognito Posted 6 May 2008 Posted 6 May 2008 Older readers (listen to me, man of 29!) will remember the Zenith Data Systems Cup which was the third cup competition for a few years until they decided there were too many games. We got to the semis once or twice as I recall but the games were always good fun. 2000 City fans on a soaking wet terrace at Notts County before it got developed, Tommy Wright hip deep in mud and challenges that would have left the teams at 6 a side if they'd played today. The Paintpot Cup will be similar stuff.
iancognito Posted 6 May 2008 Posted 6 May 2008 Boooooooooo!! Stamps out your idea then reynard ................ or maybe we could just pay the fine! You're kidding, if Leeds are still down there, Santa Bates will have 15 point fines being demanded and public examples being made of our atrocious attitude to the competition....the old nutsack
vanfox12 Posted 6 May 2008 Posted 6 May 2008 If the club wants something to put in the display case, they should come over here on tour and make up some crap tournament. Seemed to work for the Galaxy on their China tour, they won some two-bit trophy they made up for it and seemed happy. Pleased their supporters for a while too. I'd take Leicester winning the 'BK Loaded Steakhouse Trophy'... maybe.. /We did win that POXY PEPSI TOURNAMENT a few years back.
iancognito Posted 6 May 2008 Posted 6 May 2008 Weve gotta see who comes and goes first! CITY FINED FOR PLAYING YOUTH TEAM "They're the only fu<kers left!" says Holloway/Dowie/Davies/Walsh/Reid/O'Leary/Eriksson/McLaren* delete as applicable
ASH17LCFC Posted 6 May 2008 Posted 6 May 2008 I would be gutted if we won the JPT. I wish we could not enter it. Fook a day out at wembley.
Thracian Posted 6 May 2008 Posted 6 May 2008 To be fair, we have never been this far low in the English leagues. Already it's nothing short of embarrassing. And if Holloway had one shred of genuine contrition he'd have resigned by now.
Joe. Posted 6 May 2008 Posted 6 May 2008 Already it's nothing short of embarrassing. And if Holloway had one shred of genuine contrition he'd have resigned by now. I think he'll be determined to rectify his errors. Most men wouldn't bow out now without trying to prove everybody wrong and I can imagine Holloway to be determined to make up for this relegation.

Wrong He walks away he doesn't get paid Waits to be sacked and gets alot alot of money to set him up for life. He's not stupid.
lildave3 Posted 6 May 2008 Posted 6 May 2008 Already it's nothing short of embarrassing. And if Holloway had one shred of genuine contrition he'd have resigned by now. He can't win either way though really can he? If he goes some people will accuse him of jumping ship or quitting when things have got to tough for him (ala Keegan) but if he stays he'll get some people saying things along the lines of what you just said. If I was him, i'd be determined to bounce straight back up and prove everyone wrong.
Dames Posted 6 May 2008 Posted 6 May 2008 I don't get what all the hate directed at the Johnstones paint trophy is about? Its still a cup and its still a day out to Wembley, Its always nice to win something and it doesn't do team confidence any harm does it? Seriously some people.

Its not up to him, he can say this club will bounce straight back and all this but its up to Milan. To be honest does he derserve a chance ? No course he doesn't. He's had money and time and he FAILED. Why should he get another chance ?
