Really looking forward to the season

Right, it's been nearly a week, I'm getting over the disappointment, it's a Saturday with no football and loads of them to come and I'm really starting to look forward to next season. Regardless of whether Ollie stays or goes, if we lose some top players, whatever, next year is going to be great.

1. Being a massive club, frankly I'm going to continue to ignore the premiership (boring and predictable), Europe (far too flashy, too much money, really annoying 'big club' "fans") and now the championship too. That measn, especially if Leeds get promoted, we're now massive - probably the biggest club in my world. How cool is that

2. Winning some games, let's be honest, losing to the likes of Burnley, Southampton and Blackpool isn't a lot of fun. We could very conceivably go on a 5+ game winning streak next season, how cool will that be.

3. Promotion challenge - surely we've got to be up there, I'm hoping it's tight at the top and we're right in the mixer with all the excitement that goes with it.

4. Johnson's Paint Trophy - no this isn't a joke. It really is a very genuine chance to win some silverwear again. Maybe a Wembley trip (wouldn't mind a playoff final for that matter either).

5. FA cup first / second round. Please let us get some away ties at none league clubs

6. Ditching the dead wood. Players take a pay cut, those who don't want to be here leave. Brilliant!!!

7. Away at Brighton - I'm penciling this in for a weekend at the seaside.

8. Not signing 13 cr@p players in pre season - surely we'll cut the squad not add more dross to it

9: Playing the youth - ideally I'd love to see this team:

Stears : Kisnorbo : McCauley : Mattock

Gradel : Weso : King : Porter

Hume : Chambers

Bench: Fryatt, Bell, Worley, Beswick, Sappleton

New season can't come soon enough :D

 Err i don't think so.

Mattock, Stearman, McCauley are certain to leave and why is Bell on the bench?!

Probably, but they're still here right now and I'm looking forward. I wouldn't say they're certain to leave but accept probably 75% chance each they'll go but why p!ss on my bonfire?

As for Bell, close call but i really want to see Gradel and Porter tearing up the wings. I'm hoping the three of them will interchange throughout the season. We've been tragically short of wingers for ages but all three should be very good in this league (assuming Levi comes back from his injury OK)

We'll have to improve massively first. We SHOULD walk this division but we aren't a top flight club struggling in the Championship, we're a medium sized club on a downer and can't expect to win 5 in a row anywhere anymore.

The sooner we get it into our heads that we have to earn the right to play and earn the higher positions the better. Being a big fish doesn't mean the little fish all want to be our lunch

Apart from that, I wwish the season opener were tomorrow. Can't wait.

I like the idea of pretending league 1 and down are the only divisions, we're actually the biggest club in the world (if leeds go up! perfect)

After the dust has settled, the positives of the new season are beginning to emerge.

First of all, I'm just glad that we still have a football team to support - it's encouraging to hear from Aldridge that relegation is more of a sporting blow than a financial one. I don't know how valid that claim is, but I suppose it's better than dodging the issue.

New grounds, more games, more beer. Yeah.

I'm wetting myself over the thought of a 5 game winning streak. Last time we did that Dennis Wise was still a half decent human being.

Was he ever? :angry::dunno::@

I hope next season is fun, but I also hope the club and fans don't enjoy League One so much that they decide to have an extended stay down there.

It's good isn't it.

Ignoring the fact that higher leagues exist has got me through the championship these past few years, now like you say we are conceivably the biggest club in the world mwahahahah

Can I add:

1. Pasties at Bristol Rovers (which hopefully will travel well to Cheltenham)

2. Stockport County (if they win the POs) as their fans look bonkers!

3. Lower Police costs.

4. Smaller programmes with bigger print (so I can read them).

5. Simply going somewhere different (hello Hartlepool).

6. Reacquainting ourselves with the Peterborough Constabluary.

7. The quadruple: League, JPT, FAC and League Cup.

What a grand season we have ahead of us.
