There are plenty of Polish people about if we get one of those to sing for us we may get more votes.

Poland came joint bottom with us, along with Germany.

Yeah looking it is, it's the football team I'm going by really (naturally lol ).

Even so, i'm fairly sure Serbia entered the World Cup as Serbia.

I loved it when I think it was Ukraine gave 12 points to Russia and Wogan said something along the lines of "Well they need to ensure that the oil and electricity will still be running towards their country" Just classic :crylaugh:

Though they really should have 2 commentaters, he sounds like such a loner on there :giggle:

He said that? :crylaugh: classic!

I was just looking for some Wogan quotes on previous eurovisions

On Eurovision entries

"That was song eleven - there's only about 300 more to go!"

"I have a sneaking regard for this one. Watch out for a very crowd pleasing strip!"

"If I were him, I'd give the choreographer a slap!"

"They came out in rehearsals looking like the World of Leather. You could have made a couple of settees out of them."

"It's a battle between the singing and the hair!"

On Eurovision presenters

"Thank God we've all had a few drinks - if anyone can kill a crowd these two can."

(During a very long intro by the presenters) "This is sparkling stuff! What about starting the contest? Any chance?"

On Eurovision countries

"I'm terribly sorry, but I don't believe anyone in Albania looks like that."

"I speak well of the Cypriot entry as I sit next to the Cypriot commentator - and she's a fine big woman!"

"When you pick a boy band usually, you pick them for their good looks. But the Russians appear to have gone to the other extreme."

"They got dressed up for this the Italians - you're absolutely nothing without a pair of leather trousers in Italy."

:crylaugh:

I wish Terry was my Dad!

I actually think 6 points for GBR is a great achievement in the Eurovision. Magnificent.

Do you not remember 1997 and the mighty Katrina and the Waves?

Even so, i'm fairly sure Serbia entered the World Cup as Serbia.

They entered as Serbia and Montenegro, but it was their last tournament as that because they became independent just before or during it.

I love Eurovision... it's great fun even though we can't win so I've decided to just pick my favourite song from the contest and stick by it. This year I loved Armenia's song and was very pleased that they finished 4th as that was a good effort. So I guess they could be my adopted country for Eurovision from now on... unless they have a shit song...

I am however VERY annoyed that Russia won it... I can't say that I didn't expect it but its still VERY annoying that they just influence the other countries so much so that they get them to vote for them. Its very frustrating especially when their song was so crap. For one, it was a same act again... how many times is that now? He just keeps coming back!!! Secondly, the song was American... Timbaland produced it so that was VERY European of them... thirdly, and clutching at straws a bit, the song is supposed to be 3 minutes or less... theirs was 3:15... why can't they just abide by the rules!?! Finally, did I mention it was SHIT!?!

I'm sure most of you think that most of the songs were shit and the whole thing is stupid but I get very annoyed by the "Vote Russia" stance that all of the 'Eastern Bloc' have and wish it was just about the songs... I mean, although the Eastern countries usually vote for their neighbours, the best song still comes out on top as they keep getting the votes consistantly, this year, its not happened and I'm now worried that Russia will just keep winning because of their influence in the region which is very annoying. In previous years, Russia have always been there or there abouts because of their influence... now they have won it... thanks USA!

Well done Andy for a great performance, your act deserved more than just 14 points and bottom place... certainly more than Spain which was awful and got booed off the stage yet they still got 50-odd points!!!

STOP VOTING FOR BLOODY RUSSIA AND PICK THE BEST SONG FOR GOD'S SAKE EUROPE!!!

Eurovision Thong Contest

Following the humiliating defeat of yet another appalling British entry in the Eurovision Song Contest, the cunning British have changed the rules to make the competition fairer.

In future, all performers will only be allowed to wear thongs.

"We are sick to the back bleeding teeth of these ethnic bleeding singers who come on stage wearing bleeding bell tents", explained Horace Windsor, the Minister of Culture.

"What we want is for the Euro-peasants to judge the bleeding songs and not award marks for the bleeding dresses".

"In a show of unity, Sir Bleeding Paul McCartney stayed up all night, writing the last bleeding song while Heather got bleeding blisters sewing the bleeding sequins on their costumes!"

"And what did the bleeding Euro crets do? .... Why they gave us nil bleeding points!".

At a "dress rehearsal" of the new event, the Irish entrant, Sean O' Connery was disqualified for sticking a King Edward potato down his thong.

"Me manager told me that the spud would enhance my performance, but he didn't tell me that I had to stick it down the FRONT of me thong", Sean reflected.

Nobody said that it would be easy.

The UK's song definately deserved more than 14 pts. Why cant we do something a little more different, like the Ukraine last year? Obvious reasons as to why we came last though.

How France got ANY points last night I will never know. And Spain.

Politics

Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Russia, etc. kept voting for one another. Personally I thought Russia's song was sh1te.

Britain definitely deserve more but when they say that countries like Germany, Spain and France (and Britain) didn't get many votes - maybe it's because Germany had a bunch of slags singing, Spain had ciki-ciki and France had a drunken tramp. :giggle:

Anybody see the guy who gave Sweden's scores - Bjorn, absolute quality! lol

How long have "Serbia" and "Montenegro" been two different countries, I'm sure they were one country as "Serbia and Montenegro"

About a year or two. They were in the world cup '06 as Serbia and Montenegro but that was the last time as a team they were Serbia and Montenegro.

Wogan mocking them was amusing :giggle:
