Number 6 Posted 11 June 2008 Posted 11 June 2008 Nadal looked good today. Djokovic not amazing but solid thus far (it's currently 5-6 in the second set, Djok 1 set up).

Number 6 Posted 12 June 2008 Posted 12 June 2008 Does anyone know if they are ever planning to have another half grass/half clay court match again? That was brilliant.
SamL Posted 12 June 2008 Posted 12 June 2008 Good win for Murray at the Stella Artois Championships. He looked slightly off the boil in the first set but got it together in the second and third.
Uncle Albert Posted 12 June 2008 Posted 12 June 2008 Good win for Murray at the Stella Artois Championships. He looked slightly off the boil in the first set but got it together in the second and third. Means nothing. Lets judge the arrogant **** after Wimbledon.
dandannieldanok Posted 12 June 2008 Posted 12 June 2008 Good win for Murray at the Stella Artois Championships. He looked slightly off the boil in the first set but got it together in the second and third. I like Murray to win but his petulance and melodramatic behaviour is tiresome.
SamL Posted 12 June 2008 Posted 12 June 2008 Means nothing. Lets judge the arrogant **** after Wimbledon. Aye. He'll do well to better his highest finish at Wimbledon which is Round 4. He seemed to pick up a few injuries today, whether they were for real or just to break up his opponents rythem I don't know.
Head Honcho Posted 12 June 2008 Posted 12 June 2008 Means nothing. Lets judge the arrogant **** after Wimbledon. Why? He's not expected to do that well at Wimbledon, anything better than 4th round will be an improvement on his last Wimbledon and will also better any of his 10 grand slam appearances to date. Murray will make a good living out of Tennis but grand slam titles will elude him as they did Henman and that will ultimately be down to their development.
Number 6 Posted 13 June 2008 Posted 13 June 2008 Murray out through injury. Nadal through in 3 sets against Karlovic. Bit of a boring game at times. No breaks. Not many rallies. Nadal mentally tough enough to not get frustrated. Going to be good to see him against Roddick.
Number 6 Posted 15 June 2008 Posted 15 June 2008 Rafa Soon to be eating the Wimbledon trophy too? Brilliant final, both players playing some incredible tennis.
Father Ted Posted 15 June 2008 Author Posted 15 June 2008 Rafa Soon to be eating the Wimbledon trophy too? Brilliant final, both players playing some incredible tennis. I can't believe I missed it I'm a massive Nole fan aswell Bring on Wimbledon Novak for Wimbledon
Simi Posted 15 June 2008 Posted 15 June 2008 Nadal was very good, Novak was probably as good but couldn't win the points he really did need to, like 5-4 in the second! Looking forward to Wimbledon. However, I still cannot see past Federer for the title.

However, I still cannot see past Federer for the title. Spot on. It was a very hard fought match and it was no suprise to see it go down to the wire. It would be a big ask for somebody to beat Federer at Wimbledon but if he has a bad day someone might be able to take advantage of it. As for Andy Murray, it was a shame he got injured at Queens because he'd played quite a good match against Gulbis. I think maybe in a few years he can start challenging for major titles so I think a quarter final place would be a good result for him this year.

His constant "injuries" seem to be holding him back and I'm not sure he can carry on developing at the rate people are expecting him to. When you look at how quick people like Novak have come through, it's a tough ask for Murray.
Milky Posted 15 June 2008 Posted 15 June 2008 Murray is certain to spend years inside the top 10 in the world. Is that mediocre? At the same age, he's certainly no Novak that's for sure. Henman spent a decade in the top 10, with a high of number 4 and gets so much shit of people, so perhaps it is deemed mediocre.

He's 11th at the moment, if he doesn't last at Wimbledon he'll carry on falling. Missing the Stella Artois was poor for him, he needs all the points on the grass he can get.
Milky Posted 15 June 2008 Posted 15 June 2008 I'm well aware he's 11th at the moment don't worry. Nailed on top 10 player of the future.
Lovejoy Posted 15 June 2008 Posted 15 June 2008 Nadal was very good, Novak was probably as good but couldn't win the points he really did need to, like 5-4 in the second! Looking forward to Wimbledon. However, I still cannot see past Federer for the title. I saw enough in Djokovic today to suggest that if he can convert on the big points, he can win Wimbledon. For his part, Nadal also looks a good shot, though Fed appears to be hitting form at the right time which is ominous for everyone else.

I agree with that. Although it all depends on how the draw turns out. TBH, I can't look any further than the three of Fed, Djok and Nadal. Possibly, if Tsonga hits the right form then he will do well but won't win it.
SamL Posted 17 June 2008 Posted 17 June 2008 Looks like Murray is fit to play at Wimbledon despite his injury scare at Queens. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/tennis/7452218.stm

SamL Posted 18 June 2008 Posted 18 June 2008 Murray has been seeded 12th for Wimbledon. Other rankings can be found here: http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/tennis/7460598.stm

Won't face Top three in first three rounds. Mind you... he will probably still get knocked out by someone like Gael Monfils Ivanovic
