davieG Posted 28 May 2008 Posted 28 May 2008 I've just rung up goals for you here's the basic info As someone said there should be no problem getting a pitch on a Saturday or Sunday afternoon As it's for a one off event you can't book until the week before you need it It costs £40 per pitch per hour. So you could have 1 pitch for 3 hours = £120 or 2 pitches say from 2-3 and the one pitch from 3-4 = £120. So you could have the following: According to the poll you've got 23 people, 4 teams that can make the 5th July - assuming some drop outs If you do a round robin thats 6 games x 15 + 5 minutes = 2 hours = £80 £80 / 20 = £4 each person Or something like that.
C-man Posted 28 May 2008 Posted 28 May 2008 Cheers Davie thats some good information for the chief (whoever that is) to sort out. I take it 5th July is now the date? A thread should probably be started asking who can make that date and then when a suitable number of people have agreed, close it and draw the teams? I suppose if they put their positions down a seeded draw like you suggested would work best.
Flynny Posted 28 May 2008 Posted 28 May 2008 Instead of a complicated seeding system, would it not be easier and not much different to split the list of eventual people into half, with the better players in one half and the less good in the other? Consensus can sort that one, I'm sure. Then just draw 3 from each half for the final teams. Assuming we have a sub each that is. As for the info, that all sounds good.

I'm not sure you'd get concensus on the players perceived as average but it could work, you'd also need to ensure each team had a goalie or at least someone prepared to play there. If Talking Balls enter a team then it could throw the whole thing out of kilter if they bring along their best 5/6 players. More questions than answer - we need a dictator. Ronnie Van Needlemans
Flynny Posted 28 May 2008 Posted 28 May 2008 An admin or someone else who can bump the threads about in here (Manwell, AoWW?) would be a good idea. Who's idea was all this in the first place? The whole thing's been like a runaway train.

That worries me. Lots of folks make fairly major sacrifices to get to these events and if there's the potential of Goals suddenly not being available we'd be in the shite. Moving it to another week would be a 'mare at that stage. Cheers Davie thats some good information for the chief (whoever that is) to sort out.I take it 5th July is now the date? Moving it to another week would be a 'mare at that stage. They assured me it wouldn't be problem as the place is virtually deserted at weekends hence why they don't bother with booking now evenings is a whole different ball game. Moving it I'd suggest would be impossible.

Tomassi Posted 28 May 2008 Posted 28 May 2008 Goals is deserted at the weekends so you wont have a problem also, 5 mins is deffo not enough for a game IMO. Goals regularly run tournaments for the league teams there and they have a straight 10 minute matches, with the final consisting of 20 minutes what you could do is book two courts for 1 hour and have 3 teams in each league play each other twice (4 games x 12 minutes with 2-3 minutes break at the end of each game). Then one of the courts is hired for an extra hour with the top two of each group going through for a semi final (2 games x 15 mins) followed by the final (1 game x 20 minutes) 3 hours worth of court time = £120 5 x 5 trophies worth £6 each = £30 / 30 people = £5 a player You are guaranteed at least 48 minutes of football for £5, whereas the usual rate for a league game at goals is £5.50 for 40minutes. Plus i imagine Goals will give you the top two courts, which for the audience has a fantastic view from the side and its next to the bar Well done DavieG on sorting out a price I reckon Goals would do some free pizzas aswel

davieG Posted 28 May 2008 Author Posted 28 May 2008 i read that but didnt see the 15 bit in front , Ah, yes the 5 minutes was for all the pissing about you get at the changeover + any lengthy injury time.
Tommeh Posted 28 May 2008 Posted 28 May 2008 Maybe a sub-forum at the top of gen chat titled FT football or whatever would be useful to sort out all the potential ft games and 5 a side proposals there seems to be thread everywhere atm.
Tomassi Posted 28 May 2008 Posted 28 May 2008 Ah, yes the 5 minutes was for all the pissing about you get at the changeover + any lengthy injury time. yes thought as much haha going back on my idea, i just realised 3 teams ina group playing each other twice = 6 games, do'h. could change it to just playing each other once, 18 minute games with 2 minute break in between its too late for me to think properly
JoeyB Posted 29 May 2008 Posted 29 May 2008 Is there not a JJB with sports pitches you can hire? I know there is one in derby opposite pride park...........
Tomassi Posted 29 May 2008 Posted 29 May 2008 Is there not a JJB with sports pitches you can hire?I know there is one in derby opposite pride park........... no we only have Goals as the specialist 5 a side centre that JJB centre is quality though! highly recommended!
Super Arj Posted 29 May 2008 Posted 29 May 2008 dont be a muppet and pay ive been going to goals every saturday for 2 years now, only paying 7 times! just walk through the entrance bit, past the bar, try to be discrete, then find a free pitch believe me it'll work
AoWW Posted 29 May 2008 Posted 29 May 2008 How exactly do 40 people look discrete? Might I suggest everyone sneaks in with a blanket over their head. They'll never notice. Alternatively, we could all hide under the giant flag. Sorted.
blue blood Posted 9 June 2008 Posted 9 June 2008 may i suggest you folks negoitate rates with goals for the several hours you will be booking for. the wanking toss pots used to let us play for free but that has all chaner....judge meadow is a beter pitch and cheaper. fyi
