Simon Grayson

He will not 'fail'. I said from the moment Holloway was appointed that he would be a faliure but nobody would listen I would just get told to shut up and 'get behind the manager'.

Even if you were right about Holloway, what makes you think you know that Grayson will not fail? He's got just as much chance of failing as every other manager that walks into our club under the stewardship of MM.

Well probably yes. He's just got a team promoted and managed to stay in the chumpionship on what I understand to be a shoestring budget (alright we gifted blackpool maximum points from our games against em but nevermind that). Plus, yes, the fact that he's played for us does have some bearing, like it or not.

And realistically, he's probably one of the managers that we could get. It might seem uninspiring to you and many others but we aren't exactly a massively tempting offer to a lot of the managerial candidates out there. If, and I do mean if, Grayson feels he has taken Blackpool as far as they can go, then maybe dropping down a league to continue to build his reputation with a club that probably has more long possibility, may be a good move.

Come on! We are Leicester City FC! Where's all the optimism gone?

We ought to stand out as being a tempting offer - we have it all, the ground, the facilities, the fan base, a steady, patient, supporting chairman, great squad, ...

Ok, so I'm clutching at straws.

I'm stuck somewhere between optimism and realism. Has anybody got a map to point me to the next stop to get back aboard the optimistic bus?

I was at the Blackburn away in the quarter final of the fa cup a couple of years ago,in the pub near the back of the away end (the big pub on the Darwen rd)

Simon Grayson was there, not as a pundit or scouting, just having a beer with the lads and joining in the chants....proper bloke

thats why imo he should be the next mnr

Ok, I understand I have to be realistic considering our position but the thought of Grayson as manager is completely uninspiring to me.

He wasn't that significant as a player really, and from what I've seen and heard he's bland as a manager too.

As I read on one of the other boards, would we even be looking at him if he hadn't have played for us? I don't think so.

You what? He was Captin, a f8cking cup winning captin at that!

i say grayson!!!

we would be a stepping stone for ince based on his reputation within the game meaning if we got promotion under either ince of grayson ince would be headhunted more quickly i believe!

besides both have similar levels of achievements as managers. you could argue grayson has achieved more given the circumstances (finances at respective levels etc etc)

besides grayson lifted the league cup and is a city hero for me!!!!

What business interests does Larry still have in the "Leicester area"?

didn't he own/co-own undecided bar on churchgate when he was a player here?

proper bloke

So was Holloway, do we wanna go down that route again?

No and that's because he has an affiliation with the club!

I'm just thinking maybe we need someone in that just gets on with it and isn't there to make friends, say silly stuff, etc, etc! and to have someone in charge that will do his talking in results.. I'm not comparing Grayson to Holloway at all in terms off saying stupid things, etc..but i'm thinking we need someone to put it blunt abit of a willy puller maybe to come in and sort us out!

Why would you think that he wouldn't come here to do a professional job just because he has a history with the club?

Oh i'm sure he would, i guess what i'm trying to say is i dunno if he would be the right man? i'd rather go for Ince myself, trouble with Ince it could be another stepping stone as with Grayson who knows?

Not sure if this has been posted in the thread yet but can't really bother to look! It's certainly not obvious that is has been posted anyway.

Oyston dismissed Leicester Link

Blackpool chairman Karl Oyston has dismissed speculation linking manager Simon Grayson with the vacant role at Leicester City.

Grayson spent five years with Leicester between 1992-97, but Oyston says he has not spoken to his counterpart.

"Despite what has been reported, I have had no contact with Milan Mandaric," he told BBC Radio Lancashire.

"Nor would I welcome such an approach. Simon is our manager and he is doing a fantastic job."

Grayson replaced Colin Hendry as Blackpool boss in November 2005, having previously spent three years on the coaching staff at Bloomfield Road.

The 38-year-old signed a two-and-a-half year contract last December, but was installed as favourite replace Ian Holloway following Leicester's relegation to League One in May.

"I don't like to respond to rumours and speculation because you can spend most of your day doing exactly that," the chairman said.

"We have a talented young manager who is bound to get linked with other so called bigger clubs, but I would like to reiterate once again there has been no communication with Leicester or any other club for that matter.

"Although we can't stop speculation we would like everyone to know that we have not had any approach nor do we want any approach from Leicester or any other club for Simon Grayson."

Oyston also revealed the manager has been in regular contact with club officials while on holiday over potential transfers.

"Simon, his assistant Tony Parkes, secretary Matt Williams and myself have discussed various players.

In his absence we have met a number of players and agents and we have made a number of offers and enquiries to various clubs.

"I am not prepared to disclose who we have met or who we have made offers to.

"As a club we like to keep things in house until the paperwork has been signed.

"All I will say is that we have made a number of offers to a number of clubs and players and when we hear back we will take things from there."

What is this knob on about?

"Despite what has been reported, I have had no contact with Milan Mandaric," he told BBC Radio Lancashire.

"Nor would I welcome such an approach. Simon is our manager and he is doing a fantastic job."

What was that statement the other week about "I'd get in the car and drive Simon to see a chairman if he wanted" - "It happen's theres no point in getting upset about it"

"I don't like to respond to rumours and speculation because you can spend most of your day doing exactly that," the chairman said.

Well surely he was responding to rumours and speculations when he made the statement last week about not standing in Grayson's way? Or did he just feel like making that kind of statement or comments for the sake of it?

I understand the Blackpool chairman is probably just coming out and saying this latest statement to tell everyone he has not been contacted but some of the quotes in this latest statement are abit contradictory to the comments he made last week.

Steve Walsh was on Radio Leicester this morning saying that he'd had a text from Grayson asking him (jokingly I assume ) to start a campaign for him to get the job. He also said he'd spoken to Neil Lennon on the phone and he said he was definitely interested in the job.
