DB11 Posted 14 June 2008 Posted 14 June 2008 Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk has admitted he wanted to kill English referee Howard Webb after he awarded Austria an injury-time penalty in their Euro 2008 Group B match - though he said he was speaking as a fan and not in his political capacity.Donald Tusk was angry with the awarding of a late penalty to Austria 'Today, I must speak as Prime Minister but last night my conversation was very different: I wanted to kill somebody...You know very well who, like every other Pole,' said Tusk. Webb's decision, which was called totally unjustified by Poland coach Leo Beenhakker, saw the co-hosts Austria pull off a 1-1 draw. 'Refereeing errors happen, of course, but this was especially galling. It was totally unjust. It wounded us all. 'It would have been better to have lost this match in the first-half, when the Austrians had several good chances. 'A heavy defeat after a normally refereed game is not as bad,' added Tusk, who is a keen football supporter and plays it regularly.
C-man Posted 14 June 2008 Posted 14 June 2008 How many Chelsea fans sent death threats to Anders Frisk after he sent off Drogba against Barcelona the other year? There's always going to be idiots who threaten and want to kill referees. But for a man in Tusk's position, it's total lunacy to say what he's said!
filbertway Posted 14 June 2008 Posted 14 June 2008 Who's to say he wasn't laughing when the he made the comment?
The Stig Posted 14 June 2008 Posted 14 June 2008 For me it was a penalty. It's not Webbs fault their players were all over the others. If they had their hands by their sides it would never have happened.
Corky Posted 15 June 2008 Posted 15 June 2008 For me it was a penalty. It's not Webbs fault their players were all over the others. If they had their hands by their sides it would never have happened. It was a clear penalty, and its good to see it given. I am fed up of "experts" saying "Well, there will be eight or so penalties a game if every one is given". So be it, let there be eight or so penalties. Defenders have got away with this for too long, and the sooner all referees clamp down on it the better.

Darkzzz_ Posted 18 June 2008 Posted 18 June 2008 Pffffffffttttttt..... Poles!!! Ok so at least they managed to actually get there, but to complain about a blantant Peno is stupid.... I applaud Mr Webb for that.... Although there is that many Poles here he will need protection....
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 19 June 2008 Posted 19 June 2008 I see that Webbe has not been selected to referee any of the knock-out games. Blatant prejudice. Just like Eurovision.
