England rugby stars face NZ probe

The England rugby squad are on a two-match tour of New Zealand

New Zealand police are investigating a "serious allegation" against up to four England rugby players after an alleged incident in a hotel room.

It was said to have occurred in a private room at the Hilton Hotel in Auckland early on Sunday after the defeat to New Zealand's All Blacks.

Auckland police have not confirmed the nature of their inquiry.

The Rugby Football Union (RFU) confirmed it was fully co-operating with the police over the matter.

The RFU's elite director of rugby, Rob Andrew, said: "The players concerned have the complete support of all the players and the management."

The Auckland City Criminal Investigation Branch is investigating the alleged incident, which was brought to the attention of police on Sunday evening.

A RFU spokesman said in a statement: "The England rugby team has been informed by Auckland police that an allegation has been made against four members of the England playing squad.

"No formal complaint has been made and we are co-operating with the police and their inquiries.

"In the circumstances we cannot make any other comment."

Auckland police said investigating officers were receiving the "appropriate level of co-operation from the England rugby team management".

The England squad are currently in New Zealand for a two-match series against the All Blacks.

Wonder what they've been up to.....

Assault?? :dunno:

It's probably for setting off the sprinkler system/setting fire to hotel propery whilst lighting their own farts.

That's a fairly standard rugger-player team-bonding activity isn't it?

Don't forget showering each other down after the match.

'New Zealand television have reported that the incident is of a sexual nature, but neither the police or the England management have confirmed this allegation.'

Guardian report

Wonder what egg-chasing fans will make of this - they take great delight in crucifying footballers for their lurid behaviour.

Two england players had sex with an eighteen year old girl while another two watched. Her boyfriend has made the allegation against the players that she was sexually assaulted but she has not made a complaint against them (so far). The England team have stated that the boyfriend has made false allegations against the players.

Is anyone else kind of pleased that the smug, superior, arogant egg chasers are in the sh1t? It really irritates me how their fans feel so superior to football fans and I am kind of pleased that their sport is in the headlines for the wrong reasons for once :giggle:

Obviously I feel simpathy for the girl but if the whole boyfriend compliant thing is right, sounds as if she had the night of her life

This episode is very reminiscent of La Manga!

Especially as the alleged "victim" apparently preferred to tell her tale to the media rather than to plod...:rolleyes::rolleyes:

Yes I am. I know, we all know, that footballers do bad things, and make themselves look stupid, but I hate it when the egg-chasers always say "this doesn't happen in rugby". Well it does, so get down off your moral high-horses.
