simonthefox Posted 21 June 2008 Posted 21 June 2008 If you had the pick of all the players throughout history, who would you choose? I haven't necessarily chosen the best players, but often just ones I like GK - Peter Schmeichel RB - Gary Neville CB - Bobby Moore CB - Franz Beckenbauer LB - Paolo Maldini RM - David Beckham CM - Roy Keane CM - Zinedine Zidane LM - George Best ST - Eric Cantona ST - Gerd Muller I'd fancy them to beat anyone.

Joe. Posted 21 June 2008 Posted 21 June 2008 What ?!No Kazim-Richards ? He's way too good for that lot.
Finnegan Posted 21 June 2008 Posted 21 June 2008 Again, sticking to those that have played, and I've loved, in my life time. Neville Southall Cafu, Nesta, Maldini, Carlos Figo, Zidane, Nedved, Giggs* Bergkamp, Henry *All bias aside, can't believe Pele left him out of his greatest living footballers list while the likes of Hidetoshi Nakata, Javier Saviola, Veron, El Hadji ****' Diouf and co' got in.
SamL Posted 21 June 2008 Posted 21 June 2008 Love the casual inclusions of Moore and Maradona I was stuck between Ronaldinho and Maradona in centre mid. I was tempted to put Rustu in my team.

potter3 Posted 21 June 2008 Posted 21 June 2008 How many times did you see Bobby Moore play then? Unless you mean Darren. Why's it matter?
Simi Posted 21 June 2008 Posted 21 June 2008 Why's it matter? Personally I'd never be able to put a player in my all time XI if I'd never seen him play a full 90 minutes or grew up in their era.
WetFlannel Posted 21 June 2008 Posted 21 June 2008 Personally I'd never be able to put a player in my all time XI if I'd never seen him play a full 90 minutes or grew up in their era. Exactly. We've seen Kaebi look like a world beater from youtube videos, and I bet we could do the same to Hume. I'd just stick with players from my generation.

Joe. Posted 21 June 2008 Posted 21 June 2008 Personally I'd never be able to put a player in my all time XI if I'd never seen him play a full 90 minutes or grew up in their era. And if players like Moore and Maradona are there why aren't players like Pele and Eusebio etc there too?
SamL Posted 21 June 2008 Posted 21 June 2008 How many times did you see Bobby Moore play then? Unless you mean Darren. Fair play, I can see your point there Ched. I misread the topic a little. I put Bobby Moore in my team because I thought he was one of the all time great centre backs because of what he'd achieved and because of the things I'd heard about him. Maradona aside, the rest of my team was based on players I'd actually seen play. I've now edited my XI.
dandannieldanok Posted 21 June 2008 Posted 21 June 2008 GK - Peter Schmeichel RB - Gary Neville CB - Jaap Stam CB - Marcel Desailly LB - Paolo Maldini RM - Kaka CM - Matt Le Tissier CM - Zinedine Zidane LM - Luis Figo ST - Dennis Bergkamp ST - Ronaldo (when in his prime not now) Kaka isn't a winger but who cares.
