Jimmy Posted 10 July 2008 Posted 10 July 2008 Kishishev was forever helping and cajoling the young reserves after Crhistmas and their form inproved considerably until the silly season arrived post Dallas. I seem to remember my bro or Syston_fox telling me he did the same @ Villa with Mattock

Ok everyone stop going on about how good Kish is at coaching the kids!!! He was actually brought into this club by the awful Allen to play centre midfield but was shite when played......Didnt here any of you lot raving about him then, why suddenly is he a starter saturday and capatain????!!!!!!

syston_fox Posted 10 July 2008 Posted 10 July 2008 it's a pre-season friendly not the world cup final it doesn't matter who starts they will all play 45 mins tops Starved of live football for two months.... a fresh start with a new sense of optimism.... new players who havent let us down yet.... and the start of the next 10 month rollercoaster that will take over our lives. This is bigger than the world cup final!!
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 10 July 2008 Posted 10 July 2008 I don't really know how anyone can form a 100% negative opinion on Kishishev. I can't recall him playing particularly poorly (or any worse than our "midfield" last season), and have read some of Thracian's glowing reports about him in the reserves. He seems like the type of general that could very well be of use to us in this league.

As a player last season he was rather average, then randomly disappeared. Don't forget that when he was playing, we had some slightly higher expectations than when Oakley was. I certainly didn't have any real concerns over his performances. As for why make him captain in a pre-season friendly that provides a good chance to help introduce the young players he captained in the reserve team into the first team? Uh. You wouldn't like the answer, would you? Anyway, I'd certainly rather see an average player than a player with a lack of commitment.

Kish hardly had a chance in central midfield because Clemence was God in a blue shirt and, basically, had the position nailed on whatever. Almost from the off he started losing match fitness and never really got the chance to regain it. I've not seen enough of him as a first teamer to judge him one way or another. But I did see him at perhaps his fittest during his time here when he played for the reserves and, no, he wasn't perfect cos he got caught in possession occasionally and perhaps didn't look the best bet over 90 minutes. But unlike so many I've mentioned who never looked anything special in the reseves, Kishishev always made time for himself, always looked to do something positive, was forever instigatiung attacks or putting the ball in the box himself. He took some half decent dead ball kicks and, best of all, was forever making life easy for the young kids around him. If Pearson can get the bloke properly fit he should find Division One a doddle and have a decent part to play. Generally I hate old timers but at least Kish seems to understand the game and know what the hell he's trying to do. Some last season didn't get to first base.

I look forward to Kish running the show from the Centre of Midfield this season now you have cleared this up!! I do appologise!! I must of been missing something lat season!!
Father Ted Posted 10 July 2008 Posted 10 July 2008 I've been thinking about it and personally, my starting team would be: Henderson Gilbert Tunchev N'gotty MattockGradel Adams Oakley Dyer Howard Campbell But of course with a new manager and everything, there will be players impressing and players not so... EDIT: Forgot about Tunchev, but if he is unavailable, then Morrison.

Agree with that. Clemence was utter garbage, game after game, even Darren Kenton in one game against Chelsea in midfield did more than Clemence did in a season! There was a hint that Holloway was going to bring Kish into the fold at the end of the season but it never happened. He deserves a chance.

smokey Posted 10 July 2008 Posted 10 July 2008 Do I detect a note of sarcasm? Not at all!!! I look forward to him dominating games like he would of last year if given a proper chance!!.....Oh no, maybe we might of stayed up if he had played!!! What do i know, of course you and Father Ted are right!! I am gonna get some stick next year with Dodds topping the goal charts and kish with the most asists and probably getting star man every game! I do hope he continues his 1st class youth coahing whilst being clubs top peformer do you Thracian???

I really don't give a toss who plays on Saturday or for that matter who plays for the next 29 days 16 hours and 10 mins as long as everyone who walks onto the Walkers pitch in a blue shirt on the 9th August 2008 is up for it and willing to give 100% to get back to the championship!
clazkel Posted 11 July 2008 Posted 11 July 2008 This would be my team but i know it will be way off the mark Hendo Mattock N'Gotty Worley Chambers Hayles King Weso Hayes Fryatt A Chambers

clazkel Posted 11 July 2008 Posted 11 July 2008 They only come out at nightdear oh dear I know the newer players deserve a chance and will prob be in the team, but N'Gotty played soo well at Stoke (i know it was alittle too late), Hayles plays really well on the wing and i thought Hayes looked an excellent prospect before he was loaned out during last season. I would like the newer players to start on the bench!

I would like the newer players to start on the bench! Hayes couldn't make an impact at this level for Northampton, and we have much better wingers in our squad now. That would also justify leaving Hayles on the bench, who I hope never to see in a City shirt again. It was a crying shame N'Gotty couldn't have pulled his **** finger out against Sheff Weds. Dire performance.
Sooper Steve's shin Posted 11 July 2008 Posted 11 July 2008 Wow, what a thread. I know we are getting excited about the first friendly, but still... I saw Kishishev's first team games last season. Presumably he'd had a pre-season so don't understand why he wasn't "fully fit". He was crap. Couldn't pass to his own player if he was standing next to him. N'Gotty doesn't give a toss about Leicester, as was evident through any of his "performances" that we had to sit through last season. Lazy, sloppy, disinterested. Hayes is just not up to it. Couldn't hack the Championship, went to Northampton and widely regarded as a bit of a joke there. Was brought in to the club by the man who thought DJ Campbell was worth spending millions on. Thank you, Mad Dog. Don't get me wrong, I would love it (Keegan-style) if these players all proved me wrong. Personally, though, I think they've had their chances and should be shipped out ASAP. I cannot imagine Milan would be too fussed about getting a transfer fee for any of them either.
Flynny Posted 11 July 2008 Posted 11 July 2008 I saw Kishishev's first team games last season. Presumably he'd had a pre-season so don't understand why he wasn't "fully fit". He was crap. Couldn't pass to his own player if he was standing next to him. As I remember, he was tidy, neat, compact, but indescribably clumsy and almost too laid back. He'd make 5 good passes and then one woeful one, or fail to stop a ball passed to him and let it run out. If he's cut that out though I'd welcome him back.
Guest ttfn Posted 11 July 2008 Posted 11 July 2008 These pre-season teams are never as you'd expect - for the first game I would have thought he'll start with the 11 that have impressed most in training rather than what will necessarily be his best 11. That said, my 11 would be (knowing little or nothing about many of these players...) Henderson Chambers Worley Morrison Gilbert/ Mattock (if he's staying) Gradel Wesolowski Clemence (if fit)/Oakley Porter/Dyer Fryatt Campbell sod Howard he should go play for S **** horpe
