Saw it circling Bruntingthorpe when I was playing golf recently Apparently it had developed a fault and needed to cut short it's planned journey.

First time I'd seen it and what an awesome sight. So dramatic, so distinctive, and huge. I wished it stayed around longer - to keep the sun out of my eyes. :D

They used to have Vulcans at a base in Lincolnshire (that might have been Waddington  ) when I was little. I remember them flying over our house on a fairly regular basis. HUGE great things, with a really distinctive noise.

They have a lot of things at Waddington, so it probably was there. It's where all the AWACs are too. I once set the camp on full alert when I was working as a binman. Brilliant.

Almost certainly was, yeah. My Uncle Roy used to service them (how you service a V-bomber I'm not sure - change the oil? New wiper blades?).

I used to go to the airshow there. The Vulcan was always a hands over the ears job - it was a right noisy bugger
