Birmingham City Game - Friendly

I have a feeling that when the first game of the season comes around Adams will be ahead of Gradel in the pecking order.

:D:D When the first game comes around not even a newly-signed Ronaldo would get in ahead of Gradel!

Ramsap might scorch the earth but "Bat-boy" Gradel glides above it eluding all before him with the instinctive inner radar of the Walkers very own Batty Superhero.

"Take It To the Max" will have a whole new meaning for Coca Cola by the end of the season and I confidently expect Fez to start ordering and selling "Give It To The Max" flags way before the end of August - and retire a millionaire as a result.

Nicky Adams will have no more chance of usurping Bat-boy's place for the first game than Chris Adams, Mickey Adams or Sweet Fanny Adams because it would seriously piss off the 20,000 fans arriving early, resplendent in their "Bat-Boy" or "Mohican-Man" outfits, determined not to miss any part of his hat-trick in the first five minutes.

Teams of painters will be seen adding the final letters to the newly named Max-Alain South Stand and the lad will be so mesmeric that Milton Keynes will become the first league team in history to formally surrender at half-time.

Come on you Bluesssssssssssss :scarf::scarf::D

Have you had a drink Thracian??

I god hope Gradel starts but i cant see Pearson not starting with Adams, unless one plays on the left instaed of Dyer!

It's funny, whenever we get a new signing there are people who wax lyrical and ignore his faults.

Leicester City have come up against two half-decent strikers this season - Adam Webster of Hinckley United and Kevin Phillips of Birmingham - and both hit us for a brace. Are we going to make a habit of it?

However smooth and controlled a player looks it is elementary for defenders to go track any runners threatening the box and we didn't do that, including Tunchev.

I well accept he might adapt but all three of Birmingham's goals last night were scored by people who had no-one near them, two within a few yards of the goal.

We'll get nowhere if we continue allowing that to happen. I ask again. Who was supposed to be picking up Phillips?.

I still maintain, alot had to do with the 2 full backs last night in regards to conceding goals rather than the centre backs.

It'd be fascinating to hear how Pearson views it. But as I saw it - and I'll happily stand correcting - Birmingham counter-attacked quickly with a long, high pass out of defence which Mattock and their winger contested.

With the winger being ahead of the tight-marking Gradel, he had the advantage providing he held his ground. This he did. He and Mattock jumped togehter but the winger's leap was a good one and he glanced the ball on to Phillips who had made a perfectly timed run from deep which completely breached Leicester's square and static defence.

Okay, a vastly experience and brilliant defender like Kaamark might have realised he wouldn't win the high ball and eased off the tight-marking to concentrate on the runner (Phillips) who he'd been aware enough to see. But it's a big "might".

Surely, irrespective of any offside hopes, Mattock couldn't really have been expected to deal with both winger and runner nor should the rest of his defence have assumed he would win the challenge with the winger. Therefore they should have covered anyway.

The fact is no-one went with the runner nor did anyone cover the space behind Mattock, two requirements that are fundamental to defending.

Dress it up how you want it was a home defeat in City's first meaningfull game, brought about by the one quality forward on show.......and he did'nt play for us.

We need at least one "quality forward" in before the season starts... :yesyes:

...and you're going to predict who it will be, right?

Anyone get the train which terminated at Birmingham New Street? I feared for my life! This massive Birmingham fan was like "right where are the Leicester fans I'm going to kill? is there one hiding down there?" I kid you not they were his exact words!!!

I had to pretend I was a brumie fan with little quotes like "I wonder if jerome will get a chance?" and "larsson should be useful with his set pieces next season" ;)
