AjcW Posted 29 July 2008 Posted 29 July 2008 He was up and down the flanks like a whippet! in the first half yes which is usually all most scouts stay for. he was great in the first half but didnt do a thing in the second, anyway there was some other points i made light harted ones that you could of picked up on instead of being a mattock boner. gradel headbut was hillarious and lloyd dyer looks like some starved orfan from tanzania
l444ry Posted 29 July 2008 Posted 29 July 2008 Truth is our back line is not good enough to play flat and work offsides. Wasn't at the game myself. Are you saying that the composition of the back four is not good enough, that a different system should be considered or that a sweeper be employed instead of a flat back four?

capital_fox Posted 29 July 2008 Posted 29 July 2008 Very Happy with a Leicester performance (for once). Defence still needs sorting out, I'm not really sure on Gilbert also, he looked abit shaky tonight. I think Steve Howard will cause many problems next season, people expect him to be 30+goal a season man. He brought Fryatt into the game many times who scored a quality goal. It might sound stupid but I hope Fryatt and Howard have a shout next season because Campbell has not impressed me so far. Tunchev seemed to dominate our back 4 and I can't really see the likes of Nicky Maynard or Chris O Grady really getting past him or Hobbs/Morrison. The centre of midfield is also improving, this could be Kishishev and Oakleys year to make a difference. Not really sure about Weso. Once again Max Gradel caused problems which Seb Larsson couldn't cope with and ending up with fouling him. Nicky Adams whipped in some good balls aswell, I think it's a shock to the system for him because this is one of the biggest stages he'll play against week in week out. Very happy with Henderson, had a much better pre season than Logan so far. I think the jigsaw is nearly complete maybe 1 more new player that could carry them on because I don't think Clemence will. But tonight made me realise on the 9th August, Leicester City will be on it.

I think its Fryatt who made Howard look better than what he normally does, i don't think it was Howard bringing Fryatt into the game. I have been to the 4 friendlies and whoever has played alongside Fryatt has looked good as Fryatt links up well with whoever he is up front with. Fryatt has got to be in the starting team for MK Dons imo
Thracian Posted 29 July 2008 Posted 29 July 2008 That was Wesolowski, not Oakley. Thanks Fez - I was a long way away and didn't have the best view either. It was made worse by the woman next to me getting up to go to the loo every 10 minutes. Can they really not have a piss beforehand and just watch the game?

Yeah maybe Fryatt and Howard are worth a go up front together, but i would like Sappleton to have chance up front with Fryatt, i think they could link up really well
clazkel Posted 29 July 2008 Posted 29 July 2008 How does Howard winning flick ons for Fryatt equate to Fryatt bringing Howard into the game? I know that, what i meant was, Howard played better than he normally does because he was up front with Fryatt, as Fryatt creates alot so it suited Howard as there was movement up front for a change. Fryatt created most of his chances himself by making runs not by Howard flicking them all on to him
Mickey O'Neil Posted 29 July 2008 Posted 29 July 2008 Very happy with Henderson, had a much better pre season than Logan so far. I think the jigsaw is nearly complete maybe 1 more new player that could carry them on because I don't think Clemence will. But tonight made me realise on the 9th August, Leicester City will be on it. Alan Brazil had BNP on his show this morning. BNP said not to rule out any transfer movement (sounded like both ways) just yet. Anyway, I thought we were good tonight, even though we were finished off by some clinical Phillips strikes. I'm not too worried about the defence just yet...in Nige we trust! Some lovely passing by City. Bring on the Dons.

Fryatt created most of his chances himself by making runs not by Howard flicking them all on to him I agree to an extent, although I think whatever Howard does from now on he will be victimised, probably rightly so. Fryatt had a good game tonight, granted. But I think you're reaching a little bit with the link with Howard.
Thracian Posted 29 July 2008 Posted 29 July 2008 Thought that was Weso ? Apologies if not . Chambers also needs to do better , tame effort It was, all altered now thanks.
Houdini Logic Posted 29 July 2008 Posted 29 July 2008 How does Howard winning flick ons for Fryatt equate to Fryatt bringing Howard into the game? Fryatt was making excellent runs and it was easy for Howard to knock the ball on to him. If Fryatt wasn't there then Howard would have had to try and get the ball down, take on the defender and get a shot off - and let's be honest - when is that ever going to happen?

Oh fantastic. We have a striker who knows when to expect a flick on, maybe one time we'll get one that can score consistently! Or not... Howard has always won his fair share in the air, but the way he struts around the pitch doesn't help his cause at all.

I think Howard played well tonight, the best i've seen him play in a while, and sometimes i feel sorry for him as he doesn't get the service he should, but he comes across as being quite a lazy player which frustrates people. I do think they could make a great strike force this season but i really worry as Holloway stuck with Howard over Fryatt and Hume and i think that was his downfall as it didn't work upfront but Holloway stuck with it! I would like to see Fryatt and Sappleton or Chambers start upfront

Height and weight will win you games in reserve football, but his ability is questionable when he's got the ball at his feet, that's why Sapp won't make an impact this season. Chambers needs to become stronger and take his chances better, but he'll be best used as a sub I think. You're completely right.Fryatt out, Howard in Thanks.
ASH17LCFC Posted 29 July 2008 Posted 29 July 2008 Fryatt was my man of the match in the first half, looked really really good and his running was top class and his goal sumed up his performance. Gradel was my man of the match second half, B-ham defence were all over the place when he bombed forward and his crossing was good to. DJ was wank as usual, should have played Porter in quicker and 1 on 1 and he hits the keeper. Defence wasn't that strong but B-ham do have alot of talent going forward. All in all, pretty happy with the performance.
Bert Posted 30 July 2008 Posted 30 July 2008 Really happy with the way we played. I thought that we dominated the game, some of the stuff was lovely to watch. I like how we keep the ball at the back, although on a bobbly pitch, if teams close us down, this may cost us a goal.
General Smuts Posted 30 July 2008 Posted 30 July 2008 Im not gonna read through 6 pages of what people think of the game cos im pissed and generally a selfish bastard. I however thought that today was highly enjoyable and yet again reminded me why i spend so much money to see Leicester and why i will continue too. The game today was a joy to watch with a buch of mates in the sunshine with a few drinks, for me it was the perfect game (well would have been had we won). Max Gradel was an absolute joy to behold, i can't remember ever seeing him play before so i'd never before really bought into all the hype but today showed me why Fez etc are so Gradel supportive. I've never seen anyone so desperate to get the footabll all the time, and too me that brilliant, that hunger is EXACTLY what Leicester City should be about. And i loved it, and could tell Pearson was loving it too from the snippets i could hear from where i was sat (right behind the dugout) but could tell Gradel was too keen and needed to calm down. Pearson too impressed me. He looked exactly like the kind of coach we need. Involved, enthusiastic and passionate. Plus both goals we scored today were different class. Peaches the pair of them. On the downside i was singing Ricky Sappleton songs to Lathaniel Rowe Turner all sencond half, the side of thier heads are identical itells thee. This is all the worse considering i saw Lathaniel at the cinema only yesterday, I won't ramble on anymore, but i honestly have had 2 of the most enjoyable games of football this season already in Quorn and Brum and i cannot wait for the season to start.
General Smuts Posted 30 July 2008 Posted 30 July 2008 PS - Tunchev is a beast! And Morrison is a giant! PPS - Fez is right - my mate looks EXACTLY like Harry Worley!

General Smuts Posted 30 July 2008 Posted 30 July 2008 Too true. I just had an hour long convo with LD3 and he never suspected a thing!
