dandannieldanok Posted 29 July 2008 Posted 29 July 2008 From what parts of the game I could be arsed to listen to it sounded like a half decent performance. I know it was only a friendly and the strikers we faced are better than those of League 1 but the goals conceded are concerning.
ibbosuk Posted 29 July 2008 Posted 29 July 2008 Dress it up how you want it was a home defeat in City's first meaningfull game, brought about by the one quality forward on show.......and he did'nt play for us. We need at least one "quality forward" in before the season starts...

Whats the likely hood of a "quallity forward " signing for us though If we went for someone like Phillips last season instead of Howard it might have been a very different story though . . .
ibbosuk Posted 29 July 2008 Posted 29 July 2008 moan,Moan, your never fooking happy ooooohh...The truth hurts !!!....don't cry....they LOST ((GET USED TO IT))...

David Guiza Posted 29 July 2008 Posted 29 July 2008 In all fairness I woudlnt read into it .. Dickovs nearly dead himself! In all seriousness how many people want to see him back , i know it's only pre season but fryatt has looked decent so far then we've still got baza dj and howard aswell .Im not saying we dont need a new forward but Dickov ?
turkish14 Posted 29 July 2008 Posted 29 July 2008 just got back from the game, there were afew positives for me.......fryatt 1 of the best games ive seen him play, gradel too i thought was excellent.on tunchev still looks unfit to me,i thought he looked promising at times but was defo at fault for the 3rd goal.

smokey Posted 29 July 2008 Posted 29 July 2008 Is it a touch pre-emptive to say that all you Levi doubters can suck my big fat cock? What because he scored a goal?? Remember we all seen him at quorn too, oh yeah and the last couple of years. My veiw hasnt changed, he will be a bit part player at best! And no thanks with the apparently big fat cock!!!.... Or are you the Cock??

Daggers Posted 29 July 2008 Posted 29 July 2008 I can't remember the last game I listened to live but I can remember the sensation - it was one that seemed to fill me prior to kick-off each match I didn't attend. I'd turn on the radio, click on Live Chat and open the first of many beers. Tonight, I was overwhelmed with a sensation of excitement and the sense of enjoyment and exhilaration coming from the commentary team was palpable. Roll on the season!

Babylon Posted 29 July 2008 Posted 29 July 2008 Just got back, very encouraging going forward. Defense was a shambles at times!! I will repeat what I said a week ago, I would be much happier with another experienced centre back in the team. Hendo - Not much he could do for the goals 6.5 Gilbert - Fast and keen... too keen though and was to close to his man and got done a few times. Had the pace to make up for it though. 6.5 Tunchev - Best centre back we have, has got a nice bullet header on him. At fault for the third, but it was a great finish. Not many like Mr Phillips in league two. 7 Hobbs - Looked unsteady, lost lots of header, mis placed balls and got done big time for the first goal. 5.5 Mattock - Got past his man, some really nice play at times. Not sure if he was at fault for the 2nd... seemed like the fingers were pointed at him... I was the other end though. 7.5 Adams - 6.5 solid, has a footballing head. Oakley - 6.25 Was better in the 2nd half Kishishev -6.25 Solid Dyer - 6 Not much contributed Howard - 5 Did little, was on the ground most of the game Fryatt - Lovely play, great goal... definite starter 8 Morrison - 6 A bit like Hobbs Gradel - Energy, pace, willing, crowd pleaser 8 Porter - Great goal 7 (would have been 6.5 were it not for the goal) Chambers - Missed a couple of easy chances 6.5 DJ - 7.5 Thought he looked bright and willing, some neat play and linked well with Gradel... A must to start with Fryatt.

Sparky Posted 29 July 2008 Posted 29 July 2008 We proved more than a match for Birmingham and despite the loss ive seen plenty tonight that gives me hope for a decent season . For me big plusses tonight for Tunchev , Kishishev , Fryatt and Gradel . Also solid displays from Oakley , Weso , Hobbs . Porter was in and out the game tonight but the quality he shown for his goal was excellant . The same for Fryatts effort , nothing on 25 yards out no support so he cuts inside and bends 1 in to the top corner . As for Gradel this guy looks the buisness . The Brum left back was turned inside out on many occasions as Max ran him ragged . Gradel is as comfortable cutting inside or going outside , he was helped by Weso offering him an option inside more often than not and he put in a few dangerous crosses . Birmingham were visably worried by him . I think young Maxi is absolutley banging down the managers door for a starting berth
