Thracian Posted 30 July 2008 Posted 30 July 2008 At least we seem to have a proper football team with players to be proud of and who might produce something to get excited about now. I cannot believe the garbage that's been served up as entertainment at City these last years.
Ric Flair Posted 30 July 2008 Posted 30 July 2008 I'm taking the positives out of last night and leaving the negatives somewhere that can't bother me. I expected us to be steam rolled last night if I am honest and we weren't, far from it. I knew we'd concede goals, my worry was whether we could score past a strong Birmingham side. We did twice, and it should have been at least 1 or 2 more. Defensively, I think Pearson will get it right. He's got several players making mistakes right now, but he also has several players who appear to have the talent to become solid defenders and he know's what he's doing in that department, as does Mr Taggart. Max Gradel was and is sensational, any scouts there last night, I hope have gotten very drunk since and have forgotten all about him. The boy will be the best player in the league next season, he's worth the entrance fee alone. Pearson appears to enjoy watching him as well, but I think he has a Nelly and Kelly as to what to do with him (start or come on as sub and destory teams when tired). Dean Lewington, sleepless nights are coming. Fryatt was different gravy last night, I really hope this is the start of a new era for him and he can push on and score the goals we all hoped he was capable of scoring. Tunchev showed glimpses of brilliance, but was ring rusty as well. Hopefully that will be sorted come August 9th. All in all a decent showing.

That's a bold statement DavieG, i can't wait to see this lad play in the first game, just hope he performs as well all hope in the coming season.

OriginalRobboFOX Posted 30 July 2008 Posted 30 July 2008 Gradel was class Tunchev was calm, collected and assured Hobbs is a better shout than Morrison DJ is wank Adams was quiet Oakley will be captain Mattock can go for 2.5 million (it honestly wouldn't bother me) Radostin suprised me....

Ashley Posted 30 July 2008 Posted 30 July 2008 I was impressed with the football shown by Leicester. We were unlucky to loose. Well played lads.

Thracian Posted 30 July 2008 Posted 30 July 2008 It's funny, whenever we get a new signing there are people who wax lyrical and ignore his faults. Leicester City have come up against two half-decent strikers this season - Adam Webster of Hinckley United and Kevin Phillips of Birmingham - and both hit us for a brace. Are we going to make a habit of it? However smooth and controlled a player looks it is elementary for defenders to go track any runners threatening the box and we didn't do that, including Tunchev. I well accept he might adapt but all three of Birmingham's goals last night were scored by people who had no-one near them, two within a few yards of the goal. We'll get nowhere if we continue allowing that to happen. I ask again. Who was supposed to be picking up Phillips?.

C.J Posted 30 July 2008 Posted 30 July 2008 Was a good game, although I didnt think Brum played their best like Mctwatt said on their website. I was pleased with the workrate and also some ood movement. Gilbert was poor, howard still poor. Forgive me if this has been mentioned before in this post because I CBA to read 7 pages, but is anybody else concerned about Llyod Dyers leg's. Their thin (thinner than mine and thats saying somthing-), look like they could break eaisly. Has anybody got a cure for this optamistic feeling I have, I got it about the same time last season aswell??
Houdini Logic Posted 30 July 2008 Posted 30 July 2008 It's long, long overdue. 'I wonder about the number of "fans" we have who are currently scrabbling around trying to find things to be upset and moan about. '

Think the majority of us got that feeling last year, but yeah im feeling slighlty optimistic about the forthcoming campaign.

Mate i think you're being slightly harsh, there are NO strikers as good as Kevin Phillips in this league, also you have to give Tunchev and Hobbs time to settle in and get it right - for me they are head and shoulders above any other central defensive pairings in League One and will show that once they have had time to develop a partnership. I for one have faith in Pearson i think everything he's done so far has been proffesional and he appears to be all about business no gimmicks and no comedy appearances on Sky Sports News how refreshing
Dames Posted 30 July 2008 Posted 30 July 2008 I have a feeling that when the first game of the season comes around Adams will be ahead of Gradel in the pecking order.
FilboFox Posted 30 July 2008 Posted 30 July 2008 Optimism builds heading towards the first game! I'm really looking forward to it now! COME ON LEICESTER!!!
RowlattsFox Posted 30 July 2008 Posted 30 July 2008 Has N'Gotty picked up an injury? He's not been involved since the Hinckley game. Even out of favour players normally get a game in pre-season.
Daggers Posted 30 July 2008 Posted 30 July 2008 'I wonder about the number of "fans" we have who are currently scrabbling around trying to find things to be upset and moan about. ' I'm starting to get a complex - there's not a forum left where someone isn't trying to point out my stupidity.

Maybe Pearson's finally seen him for what he is... an aging donkey at the back who won't be used at this level as he just can't hack it any more... I just hope that he finally gets rid of him for good along with all the other useless players who are just getting their last paychecks before they retire!
Corky Posted 30 July 2008 Posted 30 July 2008 I thoroughly enjoyed the match last night, and was pleased with the way we played. We kept the ball well against a quality Championship side (who will be top two in my opinion), looked enterprising going forward, topped off by two superb finishes. I thought Gradel looked very good, as did Fryatt. Many encouraging signs and positives to take out of the match. The second goal was poor, two free headers which need to be eradicated, and our right looked a bit slow in the first half, which is where the first goal eminated from. All-in-all a good work-out, and a solid performance.

Fez of Mahrez Posted 30 July 2008 Posted 30 July 2008 Tenner was a good price in the end. I'd quite happily pay £30 to see us score 6 goals like that against Leeds this season.
