Mikey Posted 4 August 2008 Posted 4 August 2008 I preferred Chambers to Gilbert, but if Chambers wanted to move then that's what he wanted. He's good enough for the Championship so god luck to him.
ASH17LCFC Posted 4 August 2008 Posted 4 August 2008 Chambers being a great right back was a myth, last time i seen him play, against Plymouth he was rubbish. MYTH.
Staf Posted 4 August 2008 Posted 4 August 2008 No to bothered about this although i will be annoyed if Gilbert is no good and we have no right back apart from Bruno who is a centre back anyway!
Thracian Posted 4 August 2008 Posted 4 August 2008 He seems to have been undervalued here. I wouldn't say we're over-blessed at full-back anyway - not on either side - but Chambers' passing let him down and if he's decided he'll be best moving I'm quite sure Pearson can find alternatives who fit into the passing ethos of the side rather better. Perhaps O'Neill will break through rather faster than expected. He certainly impressed at Quorn, particularly in an attacking sense and there's Cox coming through too.
Corky Posted 4 August 2008 Posted 4 August 2008 Chambers being a great right back was a myth, last time i seen him play, against Plymouth he was rubbish.MYTH. No-one has said he's a great right-back, he isn't, he's a solid, dependable right-back who can get forward quickly. He'd have been useful this season in my opinion.
the manc Posted 4 August 2008 Posted 4 August 2008 he obviously wanted to go and i think thats why he hasnt featured!
iancognito Posted 4 August 2008 Posted 4 August 2008 He wasn't THAT good and right back is an easy enough position to cover at this level. Look back at our recent history - Mauchlen, Mills, Grayson, Savage - all of them did decent jobs at right back but were originally bought in as centre mid or right midfielders. We've got a few too many in the middle of the park and it'd be easy enough for someone like Kish to cover it.
Cobbo Posted 4 August 2008 Posted 4 August 2008 Good player with ags of pace, under used last year I thought. Shame he's gone. Need a utility full back or just a left back (as O'Neil looks decent as RB cover for Gilbert) now, in case mattock is injured/goes/is shit.

No, I'd rather see a total committement to quality and desire of playing for the Club ... yes, I know good players are hard to come by, but so is the wage bill cash!
Lillehamring Posted 4 August 2008 Posted 4 August 2008 If O'Neill had been involved in Pre Season more, I would of liked him to be in the team. But I Can see it being Hobbs at Right Back Morrison and Tunchev Centre back. Not Convincing at all. ...once again, given our numbers in midfield, it all seems to be heading to playing three centr backs... anyone suggest whether that could work in this league? .....what pisses me off about chambers leaving, is that doncaster is a step up, now
