Tevez Posted 4 August 2008 Posted 4 August 2008 If O'Neill had been involved in Pre Season more, I would of liked him to be in the team. But I Can see it being Hobbs at Right Back Morrison and Tunchev Centre back. Not Convincing at all.
Tabou Posted 4 August 2008 Posted 4 August 2008 Doesn't sound like the management team had much of a say in the matter I was just about to post that. I dont think Pearson/Mandaric can be at fault in the slightest if a player chooses to leave.
Ric Flair Posted 4 August 2008 Posted 4 August 2008 I know what you mean, I suppose if Clem doesn't go Kish will be fine as cover for RB... N'Gotty I can't see playing for us again. Some buggers got to take him first though, so if they don't, I think i'd rather have him as a back-up right back than perhaps disrupting midfield if Kishishev is as good as he has been in pre-season. Cox will come good as well I reckon. The age of our defence is quite refreshing, but also quite concerning as there's a distinct lack of experience.
MC Prussian Posted 4 August 2008 Posted 4 August 2008 One question remains: Who's this mysterious Swiss fella coming in as a left-back? I wonder.
Simi Posted 4 August 2008 Author Posted 4 August 2008 One question remains:Who's this mysterious Swiss fella coming in as a left-back? I wonder. Bruno Brener was mentioned.
Babylon Posted 4 August 2008 Posted 4 August 2008 Some buggers got to take him first though Is he injured at the minute? The fact he isn't featuring makes me think we are negotiating to get rid. Like you say, it makes me a bit nervous having so many people learning their trade in the back line... but, if they are good enough they are good enough.
lildave3 Posted 4 August 2008 Posted 4 August 2008 Neil Eardley from Oldham would be nice. Isn't he linked with a 3 million move to a Prem club?
Babylon Posted 4 August 2008 Posted 4 August 2008 Bruno Brener was mentioned. If anyone gives Knowitall credit for that one they are gonna get a right modding off me.

Could be, or Pearson is just making it crystal clear he has no part to play, urging Bruno to find a new club. If anyone gives Knowitall credit for that one they are gonna get a right modding off me. Am I right in thinking that was just pure speculation that he went along with as he didn't know?

No idea where he is, I imagine he'll have spouted off at some point about not being picked. I think we could be heading towards double figures for defensive signings by the end of August.

Knowitall had no idea what his name was, all he claimed was that we'd sign a Swiss player this week. Babylon is Berner's bitch.
MC Prussian Posted 4 August 2008 Posted 4 August 2008 Bruno Berner was mentioned. Blackburn released him a while earlier, eh? So I guess the deal with Norwich has fallen through. Hmmm... Could do well at this level. Did play an entire game only twice for the Rovers. Surplus at Basel before that, but a steady force during his spell with SC Freiburg (2002-2005). As for Chambers: Goodbye and good luck with Doncaster. I'm sure you'll be just another Jordan Stewart.

As long as we end up with two players for every position I don't mind... 8 right back, a left back with a dicky ticker and a crappy keeper from the muppets is not what I want again.
Ric Flair Posted 4 August 2008 Posted 4 August 2008 http://www.goal.com/resultsimg/5257.jpg Berner is a little scary looking, he'd upset a few folk.
MC Prussian Posted 4 August 2008 Posted 4 August 2008 http://www.goal.com/resultsimg/5257.jpgBerner is a little scary looking, he'd upset a few folk. Real babyface, that one. Of course, you picked like a four- to six-year old picture... He had his last international game back in 2004.
The Reverend Posted 4 August 2008 Posted 4 August 2008 It's a shame, i would have had him at right back without a shodow. But if he wants to leave he wants to leave.
FleckneyFox Posted 4 August 2008 Posted 4 August 2008 We have a fair bit of back-up at right back. Cox i have seen a couple of times and i think he could hold his own if called upon, and ive not seen much of O'Neill but he's been quite involved in pre-season. When Kishishev first came to England with Charlton his natural position was right back but theres been nothing to suggest that hes going to move back there. The only other name that comes to mind is Morrison who i beleive can operate at right back (It sais so on FM) and would do a better job than N'Gotty or Hobbs there because he has a bit more pace.
Daggers Posted 4 August 2008 Posted 4 August 2008 ... 8 right back, a left back with a dicky ticker and a crappy keeper from the muppets is not what I want again. You make it sound like a crap episode of Allo Allo.
johnnycash Posted 4 August 2008 Posted 4 August 2008 Doesn't sound like the management team had much of a say in the matter I think you will find the stuff about the escape clause is in fact a bit of club propoganda. I think this is a shocking decision. Cared enough to go to Africa in the summer and do some charity work. Doesn't strike me as being the lazy or arrogant sort. A much better player than Glibert!
BlabyFox Posted 4 August 2008 Posted 4 August 2008 I don't see why people will miss him tbh- completley surplus to requirments after the new signings. to chambers, now pearson- get rid of barry
Babylon Posted 4 August 2008 Posted 4 August 2008 You make it sound like a crap episode of Allo Allo. Madonna with the big boobies would have been better than MM, MA, IH and DM's signings last year

Are you actually basing it on anything other than his charity work? Why does him wanting to leave to play at a higher level make him lazy or arrogant?
Jonezy Posted 4 August 2008 Posted 4 August 2008 Oh well. Didn't really set the world alight while he was here. Never got a proper chance a rightback though, but hey you can't win them all. Good luck with Doncaster.
