Darkzzz_ Posted 22 August 2008 Posted 22 August 2008 Believe me when I say go with DELL I have had so many notebooks it is unreal. But my latest one is Dell XPS M1530 Get that one.. You can modify it to your own standard, I spent a little more because I needed the higher spec. Do not buy a Mac or a Vaio.
Tubes Posted 22 August 2008 Posted 22 August 2008 Anyone know much about graphics cards? I think its about time mine got updated, need a pretty good one but would prefer to not be spending anymore than £30, have I got much chance?

MC Prussian Posted 22 August 2008 Posted 22 August 2008 I'm tempted, I just dont know how well I'd get on with the mac software. It's pretty straightforward and intuitive - you can also check out Apple's homepage for basic advice on everything Mac-related (I think they have a video tour for almost every single hardware product they're selling). Most Windows programs run easily on a Mac and if you want you, there's always the option to run Windows on the Mac. Other than that, you can also check out the guys at an Apple Store (if you live in the vicinity of one, that is). Or do what I've done as a Mac OS X newbie myself: For better understanding of the Leopard system, I've just ordered Mac OS X Leopard: The Missing Manual

Are Mac desktops more affordable for what you get than a Macbook ?

MC Prussian Posted 22 August 2008 Posted 22 August 2008 I'll have to have a think about it.Are Mac desktops more affordable for what you get than a Macbook ? iMacs are about the same price as MacBooks - however, if I had the cash and the willingness to settle for a desktop system, I'd totally go for the MacPros - they are beasts, albeit very, VERY expensive ones!!!
Samilktray Posted 22 August 2008 Author Posted 22 August 2008 Any good? How much? Well it was sent out as an upto date upgrade, so its unopened, and is meant to be fairly decent. But it is PC World who said this. Gonna find out its value off an expert first.

Webbo Posted 23 August 2008 Posted 23 August 2008 I've never used this site before, but somebody recommended it to me. http://www.itcsales.co.uk/index.html
lavrentis Posted 23 August 2008 Posted 23 August 2008 www.pcspecialist.co.uk It is good, you can customise your PC/laptop for cheap prices.
JadeFalcon Posted 23 August 2008 Posted 23 August 2008 if its got vista OS on it, you really want 2 gigs minimum i warn you now tho, laptops are fragile items, VERY fragile, only get a laptop if you NEED one, otherwise buy a baby/full size pc times i have seen broken screens, and a certain footballer who shall remain nameless keeps knackering the power supply connection jack on his, you have been warned, yes laptops can be great, but right tool for the right job imho
