Fez of Mahrez Posted 23 August 2008 Posted 23 August 2008 I'm not comparing him to any other players we've had because we've never played at this level before but isn't it nice to see a defender who will try whenever possible to control the ball on his chest and play it out of defence rather than hoofing it or heading it clear every time. I'm also not saying he's bound to succeed at Liverpool but I am extremely glad we've got him. He and Morrison both look decent defenders despite a few worries in pre-season. Signing of the summer on the evidence so far.
Bert Posted 23 August 2008 Posted 23 August 2008 I agree, had my doubts over Morrison but he's slowly proving me wrong. I still think Hobbs and Tunch will be the best cb pairing.

Who are probably some of the best coaches in the world considering the size of the club.
Maybes Posted 23 August 2008 Posted 23 August 2008 Very pleased witht he start he had made at the club. Composed on the ball and like you say tries to pass it rather than hoofing.
Jimmy Posted 23 August 2008 Posted 23 August 2008 yup you can tell he's been at L'pool as he's had that passing mentality drilled into him I agree, had my doubts over Morrison but he's slowly proving me wrong. I still think Hobbs and Tunch will be the best cb pairing. yeah I'm liking Morrison but Hobbs and Tunchev are better

Every single one of four of us said exactly the same about Hobbs, perhaps a very slim chance but if we go up we have got to try and get him on a permanent, maybe wasting our time trying but if we pulled it off then we wouldnt be going far wrong either selling him on for more after time, or taking him on with us as we develop as a team. Also Morrison has really been impressing me up to now.
syston_fox Posted 23 August 2008 Posted 23 August 2008 I agree, had my doubts over Morrison but he's slowly proving me wrong. Me too - after seeing his pre-season performances I was terrified at the thought of him in defence but he's not looking out of place at all at the back. And he actually does try and pass the ball out rather than a hopeless hoof - true they're not always accurate but at least he's trying to find a blue shirt.

It's not completely out of the question, they may rate him but they have Carragher, Agger and Skrtel so they may be willing to let him leave but he'll probably cost what were wanting for Mattock at least

JoeyB Posted 23 August 2008 Posted 23 August 2008 HAs Tunchev and hobbs played together? I thought when greenacher (sp) came on hobbs turned a bit shakey, but im loving the him and Morrison partnership
Tevez Posted 23 August 2008 Posted 23 August 2008 I agree, had my doubts over Morrison but he's slowly proving me wrong. I still think Hobbs and Tunch will be the best cb pairing. Totally agree with that player.
