Anyway, my ratings.. Martin - 7 - Did everything he needed to, good kicking. Gilbert - 7 - Solid, good pace and creativity down the right too. Hobbs - 8 - Headed everything. Solid as owt. Tunchev - 8.5 - I hope he plays here until he retires. Not going to happen, but the lad is premiership class. Powell - 7 - Mr consistant. Very good signing. Adams - 7.5 - Anyone else noticed the first touch of this lad? It's brilliant. Thought he was great today. Quality on the ball and late on was winning a header in our box. Oakley - 7 - Knocking about as per the usualy. Seemed to want to take charge of matters, perhaps did not qite do it. King - 6 - See above but less getting hold of the play. No complaints though, did his job and has done all season. Dyer - 9 - Brilliant. Was a pleasure to watch. The bloke sitting next to us told him to 'cross it you w*g' at one point. Well, this **** will have a broken nose come the next game. Dyer - MOTM Howard - 6 - Won headers, battled bloody well and if he had a pacey strike partner, would have had a few assists. Fryatt - 6 - Put a shift in. No Goal but the work was there.

davieG Posted 27 September 2008 Posted 27 September 2008 I'm sorry but what was wrong with Martin's kicks today, I do recall last season Henderson hoofing it off the pitch on many occasions and getting slated for it. Martin has done it a few times in previous games but today there was nothing untoward or extreme about his kicking now all of a sudden his kicking is deemed worse than Hendersons, I think some people are forgetting how bad Henderson's kicking can be. More to the point he throws it out more times in one game than Henderson does in whole season. Oh well It's not my intention to prolong the Martin/Henderson debate and I always try to avoid criticising people's rating but I'm left perplexed by some of the comments.

reynard Posted 28 September 2008 Posted 28 September 2008 Martin 7 Probably his best game for us so far.1 great save and did well with crosses.1 dodgy punch but solid. Gilbert 7 Did hid job and got forward well. Don't remember much of a threat fromhartlepool on his side of the pitch. Hobbs 6 Doesn't dominate in the air as he should and his distributionat times is awful. Tunchev 8.5 Simply excellent yesterday. Won almost everything in the air. Decent lenght on defesive headers and usually good distribution.1 tackle when the guy had got the wrong side of him and was in the penalty area about to shoot was simply fantastic. Powell 7 Did well yesterday and was much better than against Millwall. Looks good enough and fit enough for this league. Adams 7 This will be a hard pill for some to swallow but right now this guy is on much better form than Gradel he may not have the pace but he takes up better positions constantly asks for the ball to played where he wants it and though his final ball was not very good yesterday it was not worse than gradel's. Oakley 7 scored and good clearance. still not convinced. Our central midfiled seem to sit too deep and allow the opposition a clear run at us on too many occassions. King 7 better yesterday but see above. Dyer 9 An excellent display of pacey attacking wing play. Final ball inconsistent but he was the difference between the two sides. Howard 7 Sorry but I don't get all this howard bashing. Ok so he lacks pace and mobility but yesterday he won most things in the air had a possibly good goal disallowed and forced the keeper into at least one smart save. Fryatt 6 Not so good yesterday. Worked hard but one of his failings has always been his inability to see a pass and yesterday it possibly cost us a couple of potential goals.

Not many times I agree with what people say about these pair in the same post. I agree entirely with you.

I didn't see anything special in Tunchev (certainly not 8 or 9 ratings), thought Adams coudn't get into it and I never saw King. Football - it's all about opinions! Gilbert: 7- Linked up well with Adams and we looked secure from their left. Tunchev: 8- The guy is class. Why is he playing at such a low level? (not that I'm complaning) Hobbs: 7- Linked up well with Tunchev. Powell: 6.5- Did what he had to do. Adams: 7- I like. Very comfortable on the ball, needs to work on his crossing though. Oakley: 7- Got his goal from an energetic run, looked steady. King: 7- Slow start, but grew in confidence and played well. Dyer: 8.5- What a signing. Quick, skilful and clever. Superb move by Pearson. Howard: 7- Looked off-colour (due to illness), but still put in a good shift. Fryatt: 5.5- Pass the ball more, or hit the ball harder. Frustrating at times.
