Little Nicky Posted 15 April 2005 Posted 15 April 2005 Are Wigan beatable? I'd like to think so, but I can't see it happening tomorrow, we need to beat them to all but guarantee safety, a draw would just limit the possibilty of any youngsters being able to break into the team for the final few games! Just had a look on their official site, and they've given us quite a write up, not sure it's fully justified, especially players to watch out for - Nalis, haha they're having a laugh: City vs Wigan preview Anyway team line up for me tomorrow looks like this (I haven't got it right once yet so don't expect half this team to play ):        Walker Kenton  McCarthy  Dabizas  Maybury Gillespie Williams Gudjonnson Stewart      Dublin  Connolly Subs: Hirschfeld | Stearman | Nalis | Tiatto | De Vries
Scow Posted 15 April 2005 Posted 15 April 2005 Walker Maybury - McCarthy - Dabizas - Stewart Gillespie - Gudjonsson - Williams - Tiatto Connolly - de Vries I'm not sure about the two centrebacks, but I reckon Levein will go with McCarthy and Dabizas. McCarthy will provide a bit of pace at the back, and Dabizas was Man of the Match against Brighton. I think Stewart will be back at left back, with Tiatto left wing to provide some balance down that side.
Ricey Posted 15 April 2005 Posted 15 April 2005 Looking forward to this game, booked my tickets last night and I generally think we have a chance. Walker Stewart McCarthy Dabizas Maybury Tiatto Williams Gudjonsson Gillespie De Vries Moore Hirschfeld, Dublin, Nalis, Canero, Connolly
breadandcheese Posted 15 April 2005 Posted 15 April 2005 Would like to see this line-up Walker Kenton Dublin McCarthy Maybury Gillespie Gudjonsson Williams Stewart De Vries Connolly Subs: Hirschfield, Canero, Moore, Tiatto, Dabizas, Nalis Worries me that I have to pick De Vries (I would prefer to see Dublin carry on at the back) and Gudjonsson (mis-placed pass after another) but there you go. Don't see many other options at the moment (both Tiatto and Nalis are in woeful form). Would probably prefer Canero to Kenton, if anything to see him get a chance, but that's not going to happen. Hopefully, we'll see Stewart at left wing where he can add that extra attacking threat (we only have one out and out winger in Gillespie down the right). I have a feeling Jordan Stewart is going to rescue our season* *By rescue our season, I mean pull us closer to safety
Ric Flair Posted 15 April 2005 Posted 15 April 2005 Walker Kenton McCarthy Dublin Maybury Gillespie Williams Gudjonsson Tiatto Connolly de Vries Subs: Stearman, Dabizas, Moore, Stewart, Hirschfield It worries me that we aren't strong enough down the flanks at the minute. We were far more stronger when it was Maybury/Stearman and Gillespie and Stewart and Tiatto. Since Stewart has been injured and Kenton has arrived we haven't put anywhere near as many crosses in as the full backs aren't getting forward enough and neither are the wingers. Tiatto and Stewart used to overlap well, so did Maybury and Gillespie but it's not happening now. That needs sorting personally. Also who do we choose at centre half? All three deserve to be playing at the minute, i'd get rid of greasy though as he's still prone to a mistake or two.

dynamite foxes Posted 15 April 2005 Posted 15 April 2005 I have a sneeky feeling it could be this with Kento and McCarthy at centre back to deal with the pace of Roberts and Ellington and they are not fantastic in the air. Walker Maybury Kenton McCarthy Stewart Gillespie Gudjonsson Williams Tiatto De Vries Connolly
john_lcfc Posted 15 April 2005 Posted 15 April 2005 just re read the thread on the wigan leicester game at jjb and that wigan boy is a twat. Can be found this by going on statistics. I hope we beat them because this guy is a nob.
Nathan_Ellington_WAFC Posted 15 April 2005 Posted 15 April 2005 we also have brett ormerod who is fast to the person who said roberts and ellington arent good in the air - roberts isnt that good at heading from say a goal kick but he can score goals with his noggin ala cardiff and ellington, well, i suppose you've never seen him play? he can leap higher than anyone in this league (ex high jump champ) and his heading is just one of his many fantastic abilities ellington wont cause you any problems tomorrow as he's injured and has been for months watch out for jason roberts though, he's much better than ellington and has been my player of the year for 2004 and 2005 and i'm sure many latics fans as well

Would be nice though... For me: Walks Stearman McCarthy Dabizas Maybury Gillespie Williams Nalis Tiatto Connolly De Vries Bench: Hirschfeld, Stewart, Dublin, Moore, Gudjonnson I just prefer Nalis. A lot of people say he's a bit anonymous but thats because hes actually tracking and keeping an eye on runners and I feel he holds a bit better than Gudjonnson (and doesnt waste the ball quite as much).

Scow Posted 15 April 2005 Posted 15 April 2005 I think it's just a case of Maybury being more confident on the right, as he can either go on the outside or cut inside when going forward. Whereas on the left, he can only cut inside, which limits his options.
