Boo? No! Berner

Bruno Berner believes there is “nothing personal” behind the barracking which Leicester City's players have received from some fans during the last two home games.

Berner spoke about the booing controversy on the eve of City's League One clash with Bristol Rovers at the Walkers Stadium today (3.0).

The 30-year-old Swiss international said: “I don't think when the crowd is booing or shouting against us, they mean it. They just want the team to perform better.

“I know the fans are right behind us. We have absolutely fantastic supporters.

“That has to be a motivation for us to do more. We are all sitting in the same boat.”

Berner made his first league start for City in Tuesday night's 3-2 defeat at Brighton -and said he had not played enough games to be able to comment on the side's faltering home form.

He said: “It's difficult for me because I'm not a regular player as yet. I am just focusing on pushing into the first 11.

“I'm not really in a position to explain the problems or why we do not win at home, but I guess we have to find solutions against teams who just settle at the back and defend.”

Berner said the players take collective responsibility for the midweek defensive lapses at the Withdean Stadium and vowed to rally against Rovers.

He said the three goals conceded in their first away league defeat of the campaign were put under the microscope when the players were summoned to a team meeting on Wednesday.

Berner said: “We lost our shape, but it was a collective problem not an individual problem. When you concede goals, it is always a chain of mistakes and no one person can stop it.”

The former Blackburn defender said City looked “absolutely fine” as they established a two-goal lead through a Matty Fryatt double.

“A 2-0 lead is always dangerous to defend, particularly away,” said Berner. “But we should have made sure that in the first 20 minutes - no matter what it takes - we did not concede.

“Unfortunately, we did and it then became a psychological thing as they had more energy and were back in the game. We were then not able to keep it at 2-1, suddenly it was 2-2 and then the rest of the story you know.”

Berner said the team meeting ended with all the players focusing on the Bristol clash and he added: “We have to get on with it now and we really want to bounce back.”

Despite the result, Berner was pleased to play the entire 90 minutes as he builds his fitness following knee surgery ahead of his move to the Walkers.

He occupied a central midfield role in place of injured skipper Matt Oakley and said: “I thought it went quite well and I tried to give an honest performance.

“I've gone on as a substitute three times but it is good to be more involved.

“It was good for my energy levels to get 90 minutes, but I was just disappointed that my first league start ended in a defeat.”

I don't think Bruno is playing with a full deck.

If the players aren't taking it personally, why has Milan came out and made a fuss about it? It's obviously affected them in some way.

Maybe just he doesn't take it personally because he has the experience, however the likes of King, Hobbs, Martin () don't so they may do.

He's a cheese and onion roll short of a decent boozer, if you ask me.

Errrrr you can't just go bringing your own food in to this pub.

No pub in the land would allow it.

It's all about 'supply and demand'; if I demand it, they must supply it.

“A 2-0 lead is always dangerous to defend..."

Oh my, that nonsense again...

I wonder how tricky a 1-0 lead is to defend? It must be almost lethal.

And being 1-0 or 2-0 down? Jeez that must be hard too.

Though tbf a 3-0 lead hasn't been good enough for us before
