Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 18 November 2008 Posted 18 November 2008 Been listening to Kid British for some time now. I'd be surprised if they don't break into commercial success in the future.
General Smuts Posted 19 November 2008 Author Posted 19 November 2008 Will review on the 22nd of December. Sometimes i love you so much i want to strangle you and have sex with your corpse. But not in a gay way. Been listening to Kid British for some time now.I'd be surprised if they don't break into commercial success in the future. I said that as soon as i heard Elizabeth, this is my token 'You heard it here first' track.

Jay Posted 19 November 2008 Posted 19 November 2008 First of all I am looking forward to Smuts mix I am currently trying to sniff out some different indie type music and am hoping this mix might give me a few tasters of some good stuff 1 Buraka Som Sistema Don't like this at all sounds like someone trying to copy Basement Jaxx just doesn't sound right to me!! 2 The Cool Kids Yeah I like this, I have listened to a few Cool Kids tracks but am not sure if I like them or not I get the feeling I might have to bite the bullet, download it from Emusic and give the entire album a listen. 3 I call Shotgun yeah I like this, sounds a bit like I am sure I have heard this before in parts but on the whole a good track!! 4 Ladyhawke first impressions...Not for me... second impressions... it's ok but not for me although did skip this one in the end. 5 Kid British yes I like this very much, these will be investigated a little bit more. 6 Esser I don't know if this is brilliant or crap I can't decide 7 Friendly Fires I am enjoying the Friendly Fires album already know this track, the album is one that gets a bit better everytime you listen to it. 8 The Mourning After No just gets a bit on the annoying side half way through 9 The Metros it's ok nothing more to say 10 The Courteeners I have this album it's ok I am still not sure if I really like it or not though, I think I do but am not convinced 11 Thomas Tantrum WTF is that..... I wanna talk I wanna talk No NO NO NO 12 Gang Gang Dance I kind of like the music and song but just not the vocals they just don't go imo 13 Peggy Sue & the Pirates prefer Pete and the Pirates to be honest 14 Lykke Li I want to hate this track but actually it's pretty enjoyable 15 The Holloways it's ok I don't think I am that bothered about hearing anymore songs though 16 Adam Green I am thinking Lounge music.. I am thinking Tony Bennett, Michael Buble I am thinking oh good lord No... Some Good songs on that mix will maybe investigate a few more of them as well
General Smuts Posted 19 November 2008 Author Posted 19 November 2008 Reviewage Cheers Jay - better than id expected
Trav Le Bleu Posted 29 November 2008 Posted 29 November 2008 Listened to this once and enjoyed. The Emo done good! I'll listen again and then post a review! Soon... before the mini-forum dies a death before I get a chance to post mine!
Trav Le Bleu Posted 3 December 2008 Posted 3 December 2008 1 Buraka Som Sistema I did like this quite a lot. Like M.I.A. in it. Jay said reminded of Basement Jaxx, but I'm reminded of Afroleft by Leftfield. But still good! 2 The Cool Kids Jury out, not sure, but better than your run-of-the-mill hip-hop. One of the rappers sound like Eminem, which annoys me 3 I call Shotgun Again, not sure. It's a bit like The Bravery meets Brit Indie Pop - which has no right to be even marginally good, but it's not altogether a lost cause. 4 Ladyhawke First things first - I hate "My Delerium" with a passion. At the start I thought I would hate this... the psuedo-rap part, but I love the melody part. In other words, it ain't half bad. 5 Kid British Could be any Brit Indie Pop band. 6 Esser This is fun... a bit like Hot Chip. Could see me getting more of their stuff. 7 Friendly Fires This sounds good and I heard them on Radio 1 too. A possible future purchase. 8 The Mourning After Awful, truly awful - apart from the "one-armed scissor" riff halfway through. 9 The Metros See comment no. 5 10 The Courteeners Ditto - I've really heard too much of this kind of music in the last few years. 11 Thomas Tantrum I love this! 12 Gang Gang Dance A bit boring - nothing happens. 13 Peggy Sue & the Pirates prefer Johnny Kidd and the Pirates to be honest. Reminded me of Ms Nash and I can't stand her music. 14 Lykke Li Every time I listen to this I have a different opinion of it - I think I might actually like it. 15 The Holloways Is this not Chas n Dave? No, I mean seriously?! *sigh* 16 Adam Green If this was Richard Cheese, it would at least have the excuse of being Richard Cheese. It's not; it doesn't; it's annoying! Cheers Smutty. Not a complete disaster then! Thanks very much... now for Jame's mix (turns up Subwoofer)
