Head Honcho Posted 23 November 2008 Posted 23 November 2008 So I only have to spend £400 to save a tenner
Phube Posted 23 November 2008 Posted 23 November 2008 So I only have to spend £400 to save a tenner Yes but VAT is on nearly EVERYTHING you buy... including some food, fuel, clothing, goods, cars, eating out etc. etc... If you only spend £400 a year on that lot... then you must be stealing (like Daggers... )
stez Posted 23 November 2008 Posted 23 November 2008 considering it was only supposed to be a temporary tax when it was brought in (in the 1600's or whenever).....i'm glad to see it come down a bit, and i remember there was a bit of an uproar when it went up to 17.5%
Trav Le Bleu Posted 23 November 2008 Posted 23 November 2008 Yes but VAT is on nearly EVERYTHING you buy... including some food, fuel, clothing, goods, cars, eating out etc. etc...If you only spend £400 a year on that lot... then you must be stealing (like Daggers... ) I'm confused... are you saying that Daggers is a potential thief?
Webbo Posted 23 November 2008 Posted 23 November 2008 If I had my way I'd put VAT up to 20% and use the money to take the low paid out of income tax, but what do I know?
Phube Posted 23 November 2008 Posted 23 November 2008 I'm confused... are you saying that Daggers is a potential thief? Nope I'm saying he IS a thief!!! He's not paid VAT on music, games and films for EVER!!!
Trav Le Bleu Posted 23 November 2008 Posted 23 November 2008 Nope I'm saying he IS a thief!!! He's not paid VAT on music, games and films for EVER!!! Oh, that's a relief. He's only a potential paedophile then. BTW Phube, that's also 2.5% VAT off Nintendo products* And is this actually happening or just touted? Missed the news the last few days. *other gaming platforms are available and will also be subject to said tax cut.

Well EVERY newspaper has it in today, so as (my hero) Andrew Marr says: Either there's been a top level 'leak'; or everyone on fleet street has had a remarkable guess! Yay... cheap games....
Daggers Posted 23 November 2008 Posted 23 November 2008 Nope I'm saying he IS a thief!!! He's not paid VAT on music, games and films for EVER!!! That is actionable, I'll have you know I bought an album in 1978. Shame you don't have the support of a union funded legal team - this is going to cost you.
