Ric Flair Posted 18 April 2005 Posted 18 April 2005 After saturday's performance I think it's definately the lowest i've felt since Levein has taken over. Now I don't want to jump on the bandwagon and slag Levein off as I was celebrating his appointment as manager. But I am starting to wake up at the situation we are in and it's so frustrating watching Leicester at the minute. Craig has been here 6 months now and we are slowly getting worse. At first it was all authority and he was cracking the whip as in shipping players out and bringing some in. It seems now though that he's quite happy for players to under perform and they'll stay in the team. Ultimately it's the players that cause our level of performances but Levein hasn't been ding himself any favours recently. I can accept that it takes time to build things at a club and if you've inherited a lot of under-performing players then success won't be instant. But playing players out of position when you don't need to and being reluctant to bring subs on when your team is getting battered is disgusting. It's things like this that don't do managers any favours when the team is playing badly. Levein will leave himself wide open to criticism if he continues to do the basic things wrong. I'm reluctant to say this but Levein definately needs to shoulder some of the blame and if I was him i'd start getting nasty with the slackers in our team (De Vries, Tiatto, Gudjonssen, Gillespie and many others) 1 win in 11 matches or whatever the stat is, is disgusting. I've backed Levein to the hilt, but that record isn't good. I have a good mind not to go on tuesday as I don't think I can take much more of De Vries and Levein's refusal to take him off. Things like this remind me so much of Mr Adams and I don't want to be there when things go tits up. Have a go at me if you like, for not being loyal. Perhaps i'm not, but I think it's a case of I care too much. After seeing that on saturday i've finally snapped, i'm no good to anyone after watching that. I'm no good to Leicester City either as for the whole 90 minutes I slagged them off to high heaven and I couldn't help it. That's how disgusted I am with Leicester, it's best if I have no opinion of the situation and then I can sit back and put things in to perspective after a while. Knee jerk reaction? Definately and I know fine well that in a few days i'll be optimistic again and honestly think we'll do a smash and grab on Sunderland. That's the sad thing, in reality we get nothing back. We pay plenty of money to go to the football which we look forward to all week only for us to play like wankers and lose. We go home upset and frustrated, then as time goes by we heal fast and it's back to thinking we're on to something good and 3 points. A season of mis-guided hopes and dreams. I've bought in to it and got nothing in return other than alot of hangovers on a sunday morning. I've spent hours and hours talking about our demise, plotting our come back to the glory years. But it all boils down to one thing, we've got a bunch of bottlers and mercenaries playing for us. We have a manager who has a good pedigree and I like his plans for the club, but are we any better? It will take a brave and honest man to sort this club out, I just hope Levein is the man for it. Deep down I know that it's more blind faith than cast iron optimism. I hope, I don't know. Nobody does, what indications are there without alot of money and a group of pigs. This doesn't make sense, last week I was all in on the Levein Revolution. I know I will be again tomorrow, but I want this piece as proof of how bad things really are when i'm lost in my blue tinted glasses again. Also I can look back at this when we've hit the big time again and laugh or cry if I wake up and i'm sitting in Gresty Road again with piss in my pocket from some fat ugly chav. If anybody can make any sense of what i've wrote and give me cause for hope or rip what i've wrote to pieces then by all means do. I've thrown the towel in. Why?
breadandcheese Posted 18 April 2005 Posted 18 April 2005 I've thrown the towel in. Why? 94323 Because your heart is ruling your head. Stand back, take a look, and you will realise that the time to start criticising Levein and throwing in the towel is after he has had a summer to bring in the players he wants. Look at our team. Our defence is lacking (for me, only Dublin, Maybury, McCarthy and Stearman are good enough - that means we need 2 defenders), our midfield is woeful (and not one of the league's best despite Chandler's protestations). Only Hughes appears good enough - Tiatto, Nalis, Gillespie, Williams do not seem to have what it takes. Add to that our misfiring strikeforce (of which it is still not clear if any of them have what it takes) and it is clear to see our team is where it belongs in the league. This summer is one of the most important in the club's history (seem to say that every summer). If Levein does not buy wisely, we could end up like Forest. If he does, we could soon shoot up the league. The standard in this league is poor. The gap between us and the play-off teams is not massive by any stretch of the imagination (compare our games lost or goal difference). The only gap in the league is between the top 3 and the rest. This was evident on Saturday. The only reason people are depressed is because it is Wigan, a small town with poor support. They are currently head and shoulders above us. Let's see who we bring in the summer to convert a few of our draws to wins.

This will be ur worst season since then, the worst season i've ever experienced. When you've been relatively successful for that amount of time it hits you hard when you don't achieve. It's no wonder that our fans are going wild and are so called 'fickle boneheads' what do you expect? If you went to your local bakery for 10 years and had your favourite cob and cake each day and they never let you down, if they ever rarely did you understood as they can't be perfect all the while but then all of a sudden the bakery takes a turn for the worst and the food is now disgusting. You try your best to stay loyal and ride it out, but it's hard isn't it? It's impossible not to get frustrated and seriously question things. The fact is we are lingering near the bottom of a league we've not been in much over the past 10-15 years and we need to accept that we aren't the force we once were. I struggle to, I am a perfectionist and I can't settle for second best. I'm seriously going to be tested if we continue to perform this badly, I can't accept it.
PompeyFox Posted 18 April 2005 Posted 18 April 2005 Truthfully how many more points can you see us getting? We need a win tommorrow night, that is how massive the game is. Can you really see us getting anything at sunderland, what about derby at home, then leeds. it could all hinge on the plymouth game, but i think we would've scraped enough points by then to be safe. The team needs us tommorrow night more than ever. As for next season i dont even want to know.....................well not yet.

Why? 94323 before i start hoof i must say thats the best post i've read i my short time using these boards i think you sum up perfectly the feelings and frustrations of many leicester fans. my two initial reactions that immediately spring to mind are: a) i think the problem is that levein really thinks the players he inherited from micky adams are complete and utter s***e but being the professional he is he cannot exactly say this out loud. therefore the same old excuses we hear time and time after the match should be roughly translated as like i know we're a shower of shit but when i can bring my players in and have a proper pre season then we'll see an improvement. i think this in essence sums up the problems at city as we have to witness the poor performances when it seems everyone is already looking to next season when there is still much to do this season. B) i think derby are a good example of what can happen if you bring the right blend of players in, they were nowhere last season yet this season they're right up there. as for levein i think we've just got to try and be calm (agreed its very difficult when u have to watch that garbage on a sat afternoon!) and give him time to rip out the rotten core at the heart of the club and rebuild to make us stronger in the long term.

I knew we would lose on saturday, I had it in my blood the moment I woke up, the thing is Wigan at present are everything LCFC should be. Good Manager, decent squad of HARD WORKERS and a sprinkling of talent. The forwards were good (for this league) and they are worthy or there position. CL needs to look at the Negatives and address them. Connelly is on form, where MDV aint. The midfield needs 2 players sorry but Nalis and Gudjohnson arent up for it. We need a centre back to replace either Dabizaz/Dublin (journey men have got to go or just be squad members) Walker doesnt seem interested.... What am I saying here..... We need a Spine to the Team and I'm sure CL knows this. His buys so far abeit MDV have been sound considering the financial state of the club. IF and I say IF..... we can get them TAYLOR, HULSE, EUELL, COMMONS,David Johnson and Stearman could benefit Leicester next year. The players are examples of what we need. The glory years are long gone I hate to say it but CL look at what Burley is doing. I have to say thou the home form in the last 2 years has been VERY POOR. I'd rather see points at home and NONE away, I pay to see my team WIN and I think I have been a little short changed. **For players like Dickov, Thatcher and the rest who jumped ship last year thanks for the memories but you aint welcome in my town, after what we did for you. £pts on tuesday l;ads show some GUTS and DETERMINATION I really dont want to be playing forest next year ......
BartonFox Posted 18 April 2005 Posted 18 April 2005 Hoof, I posted something on Fox Fanzine bemoaning people who can't see the bigger picture. Now not for one moment am I saying you don't as you are one of thmore reasoned posters on any City site. Thing is we have been rotten to the core for years now and mediocrity is the accepted right through the football side to the admin side. Our Academy system is woeful, our corporate side is dire (Foxes Festival anyone), our directors seem to think the Leicestershire public will fork out £25 a game for the worst first division in living memeory. A quarter of a million seats will have gone unsold this season, can you imagine the income if we had chucked them out at £10 or £5 a piece? Our forward thinking board has missed out on a potential £2.5 million. But we did have the Pepsi Max tourne!!! As for the players, they are so ingrained in mediocrity that all Levein has to do is get us over the finishing line. After that I would imagine, no hope everyone of the 14 out of contract will be binned. What have any of them done to warrant a new contract? Next season our Academy system will be overhauled as will the playing staff with a formula we all would welcome. Ever since the appointment of Bassett and his retention following administration this Club has been going backwards, Levein saw that immediately but what can he really do in the midst of a season? The long rebuild begins the day after Plymouth, I bet things will improve greatly from then on in. C'mon City.
gjp Posted 18 April 2005 Posted 18 April 2005 The day Peter Taylor spent 6 million on akinbye was the day I thought he had finally lost it as a manager as I just could not understand what he was seeing that I was not. having seen a lot of akinbye whist living in Bristol. I hope I am wrong but what does cl see in devries that no one else seems to. I too am at my lowest since cl took over and did expect more but I will reserve real judgement until after the summer when I can see what quality he brings in however if daffys anything to go by god help us!

Your right and because the club is ran badly and has been for many years it's easy to doubt the mighty Levein. I hope he can sort things out, it's going to be a huge job for him, but I can't take much more of it. COME ON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Steven Posted 18 April 2005 Posted 18 April 2005 Was that you on the Radio? Are you Dave from Narborough.
MADLEVEIN Posted 18 April 2005 Posted 18 April 2005 i currently am not a big fan of de-vries but since he has been here connolly has enjoyed his best spell of goalscoring form to date, so in hindsight and not cloaking over de-vries it seems as though levein might have bought de-vries in to complement connolly whether or not he will persist with him next season is a different matter.
Alexikokopops Posted 18 April 2005 Posted 18 April 2005 I've remained exceedingly optimistic about Levein since his arrival, but now that even Hoof is losing the faith, I don't know what this world is coming too!!
step Posted 18 April 2005 Posted 18 April 2005 After CL's comments on saterday it is obvious, he knows things aint right and he is not happy with the performance from some of the players, He has also said he will be changing things around for tommorrow night which will hopfully produce a better performance and result. Though IMO we dont have enough good players for CL to select eleven quality players so there will always be some poor players on the pitch and if the few good players have a bad day we will have another shite match but, remember we have seen a improvment in the team since CL took over. Lossing only one match in the last seven aint that bad. Also, CL has also reduced the wage bill this season which will give him more money to spend next season. so we do have some hope for next season and things aint that bad.

Nationwider Posted 18 April 2005 Posted 18 April 2005 Without getting too cliched about things, Cardiff is the game that may decide our fate. If we lose, I genuinely feel that we will be relegated. It's an awful run-in after that. On paper, we have the quality to beat Cardiff - we know this; we have decent footballers in our squad. However, CL has to find eleven players that really want it tomorrow night in terms of effort, application and concentration. Good teams get relegated - West Ham, Forest, Sheff Wed (x2), Man City (x2) - all good on paper - all ended up "Sh1t Creek". You've brought your men in CL - now motivate them.
