Chelsea's Away Record

Recommended Posts

Chelsea's home form may have been a bit dodgy for their own high standards, but they haven't lost an away game in the 2008 calender year. That's if they avoid defeat in the following 4 remaining games of 2008.

West Ham

Everton

West Brom

Fulham

They have 11 straight wins which is a top flight record. Last time they lost away, and correct me if I'm wrong, was at Arsenal December 2007. That's a phenomenal record.

Slightly irrelevant, but surely their "better football" might effect their chances of winning the title this season? Their home form has been appauling for Chelsea's high standards, kind of reminds me of Arsenal.

I'm not writing them off, I predicted them to win the title at the start of the season, but it's been proved in the past few seasons that beautiful football doesn't win you the title.

I know they've spent a lot of money, but it's still a great record. To only concede one goal in eight away matches is phenomenal.

Their football has been considerably better since Scolari took over, but that has left them open to concede at the other end. Under Mourinho Chelsea would never have lost after taking the lead against Arsenal. Mourinho would have seen that game out 1-0, home and dry.

I like their new approach to the game and it makes them more watch-able compared to the rigid predictable methods of Mourinho.

Regardless of their spendings, 11 straight away wins and unbeaten away in 2008 is some record.

Also, Scolari is a lot more likeable than Mourinho as a person.

Ray Wilkins is a pretty good bloke as well.

He can barely speak English so he's bound to be likeable. :giggle:

I prefer Mourinho though - whatever people may think of him, the man knew what he was doing. And he had Wenger on lock down.

Yeh I particluarly like the way they've done it on a shoestring!

lol Made me laugh for some reason :)

Seriously though, millions or not, it's pretty impressive.

I've liked Mourinho ever since that brilliant touchline celebration at Old Trafford whilst managing Porto, never mind anything he's done or said in the years since.

Dirty Cockney Bastards.

Just seen on Sky Sports News, WTF was up with Chelsea last night? Terry sent off, Lampard & Ballack moaning/getting in the referee's face (Like usual that is TBF), Alex standing on top of Osman after he made a tackle.

Oh, and there away winning run has come to and end 1-1.

Still unlucky to be sent off on Monday, though. The foul on Osman was only fractionally mistimed and didn't deserve more than a yellow.

Then again, there was no need for JT to go to ground in the first place for a challenge halfway in the opposing half.

Having in seen it a few times now Ultra, I agree with you.

I have seen a lot worse than that to be honest.

I think after that Arca incident last week the Ref's have got a little card happy.

As David Moyes said "I would have enjoyed a tackle like that in my day"

I think JT (and maybe Adebayor) were caught up in the backlash from the Arca incident.

It's nonsense how FIFA laws allow red cards to be retrospectively downgraded to yellow, but not the other way round.

FIFA altogether is just nonsense.
