Monk Posted 13 December 2008 Posted 13 December 2008 Great result for us, we really need to consolidate our position at the top and extend our unbeaten record well into the new year. Was shocked that Fryatt didn't score!
JoeyB Posted 13 December 2008 Author Posted 13 December 2008 We need to extend this winning run for about another 10 games before we can afford to loose, then hopefully the gap will be about 9 points clear
eye666 Posted 13 December 2008 Posted 13 December 2008 Just got back (live in Stockport). Good game and good result. First half we didn't create anything and their goal was a bit fortunate. From where I was standing I thought Graham was offside but oh well. Thought Martin could have closed him down earlier (wasn't playing to the whistle, seemed to stop and then go in). Second half was very good (one of the best I've been to this season). Bit end to end for first ten minutes and Fryatt had a good chance that was saved, but after King scored we were murdering them. Quality finish from Andy. After that it was one way traffic. Howard hit the bar and was unlucky, and contrary to the few posts I've read (from people who weren't at the game I might add), he won almost everything put to him (as per usual everytime I've seen us play this season) and is a quality player. Just needs to find the net himself - unlucky with the one that hit the bar. He did well to set up Berner for the winner - tap in at the far post. Last 10 minutes were a bit hairy and they had a good chance but it went just wide. Other notable moments were an Oakley shot that just went wide and Carlisle hitting the bar after mis-communicatin between a defender (Hobbs or Morrison) and Martin. Martin made a good save from a one on one to keep us in it at 1-0. Central defense was a bit dodgy with the hoofed balls today and Graham caused problems but all in all they did well, and I think I prefer Morrison to Hobbs. Tunch was missed today with his added quality and calmness. Good day out though, freezing cold but we got the win. Good atmosphere from us lot but the Carlisle fans... I've seen more life in a graveyard. Stewards were alright I thought and the cops did nothing, and we didn't get held back at the end. Good win and let's hope we can build on our good form against Peterborough and Leeds.

Bridges and Graham were really cheeky when they scored and ran in front of our fans, but whose laughing now. I can't believe how quiet their fans were, even when they were winning, it was like a graveyard! Our fans were great tho, didn't get on the players backs even tho we went one down, and i appreciated the players coming over at the end.

Be interesting to read what the other travelling fans have to say but it seemed apparent from the off how much Tunchev's calming influence was missed and his astute reading of the game. Okay, he makes mistakes like everyone else but he seems to be the pivotal organiser and the man who gets us passing the ball out of defence. I hope he's not goingto be out for too long. Groin injuries can sometimes persist for ages and need to be given time to heal properly because a repeat of the injury can take ages to mend. PS: We can't be too far off technically avoiding relegation now!
maddog Posted 13 December 2008 Posted 13 December 2008 What a win, 1-0 down away at carlisle who are doing well recently, a long trip too, and a 2-1 win without Fryatt scoring I have no doubt in my mind now, we are going to get promoted.

Ultra Posted 13 December 2008 Posted 13 December 2008 We can't be too far off technically avoiding relegation now! Three more wins should do it. With any luck, we'll get these by New Year's Day!
C-man Posted 13 December 2008 Posted 13 December 2008 Good win but we were holding on desperately in those last five minutes. How many points does that win put us clear at the top. We were? News to me, I was there and the ball hardly entered our half during injury time until they got that free-kick. Oh and for anyone questioning Howard's value to the team should have been there today. He was awesome, and so unlucky when he hit the bar! Absolutely epic trip.
Unit Posted 13 December 2008 Posted 13 December 2008 Got back about half an hour ago, quality day out and a decent game to go with it. Really happy with the result
Muz Posted 13 December 2008 Posted 13 December 2008 We were? News to me, I was there and the ball hardly entered our half during injury time until they got that free-kick. Dodgy services though! MARK DAVIES IS KING! not andy king but KING!
Thracian Posted 13 December 2008 Posted 13 December 2008 With any luck, we'll get these by New Year's Day! " You've not been mistaking the Bishop's Farewell for the Barber's have you?

Possibly the best of the season to date!! Shattered now after the early start and only got in about 45 minutes ago so can't be bothered to review what happened.
Tommeh Posted 13 December 2008 Posted 13 December 2008 just got back, what a ridiculous ace to house a town/ football club. Great win and an excellent day out. Stevie H was superb. And cheds toy fell out the pram in stoke. I hate stoke.
Bert Posted 13 December 2008 Posted 13 December 2008 What a great day. Firstly, Maybes was late for our planned train, which left me waiting on my own at the train station for an hour. Had a good laugh on the journey up, C-Man and myself dressing Maybes up as he slept. A good performance on the whole, especially from Gilbert, Oakley Howard and Davies. Ched thought Chrissy Powell made a awesome tackle when in-fact it was Gilbert ( !) Tommeh "took one in the mouth" during first goal celebrations. Had a fantastic day with some great people, and most of all 3 points.
lildave3 Posted 13 December 2008 Posted 13 December 2008 Absolutely brilliant day, but that trip was ****ing long!
Fez of Mahrez Posted 13 December 2008 Posted 13 December 2008 Brilliant stuff. Great team performance second half. Howard was excellent I thought. Some of the nutters in our support who try to abuse him all game are completely pathetic.
syston_fox Posted 13 December 2008 Posted 13 December 2008 Absolutely brilliant day, but that trip was ****ing long! Didn't seem that long to be honest - probably because I was expecting it to be further than it actually was and was a great laugh on Fox Travel. How badly damaged was C-man's coat in the end?

Fez of Mahrez Posted 13 December 2008 Posted 13 December 2008 That was the worst tackle I've ever seen! You're the worst player to ever put on the shirt! I christen him Mr Worst I've Ever Seen. I hope he sticks around, he was very entertaining. I love how Hobbs was the "worst player to ever put on the shirt" too. Not Howard, who he was berating every ten seconds. Never said anything else about Hobbs though.

And I'm sorry Tom Moore, I absolutely clocked you in the mouth, I literally had no control over my limbs at the time. (I'm waiting for someone to quote that and remove the 'l' from 'clocked') Didn't seem that long to be honest - probably because I was expecting it to be further than it actually was and was a great laugh on Fox Travel. How badly damaged was C-man's coat in the end? Fucking Dave, that hood was warm aswell!

C-man Posted 14 December 2008 Posted 14 December 2008 I'm disappointed we didn't get a wave from Shingly! Tadman said he didn't recognise him without the steward and the running... And yes Bert, you have a nice hat.
