its a good idea but on sky sports they said that if it was in place last weekend all the clubs in the football league would already have been doing it, there some talk of it been a publicity stunt but all in all i think its a good idea, can't see the prem following suit though

to be honest I don't see what difference it makes the rule seems like a load of crap to me and is more politics than action!!!

I know it's the football league and the premiership is different but If you are talking about Arsenal who some regard as the biggest culprits then the likes of Song, Clichy, Fabregas,Denilson, Vela and Bendtner would all pass this rule so what is the point?

Good news, hopefully the Prem will follow as I kind of want it to lower the Prem's standard with less foreigners but this should make it easier for promoted clubs to stay up and should improve the English players game and develop more talent.

I suspect the only difference it will make is the big clubs will go out and entice young foreigners, with ££££££s to leave home and to join their academies, if that's the case then I think it's totally counter-productive.

I think this is quite good. Most of the smaller clubs I assume are not far away from this anyway. But there does need to be abit more protection of clubs, The big boys can't just come in and take your players and then you don't have enough of these home-grown players registered for atleast 3 years thus you not being able to play the game within the rules.

In the Premiership, The foreign players do make it the best league in the world, but something needs doing to force teams into playing a minimum amount of English players, and thats one of the reasons I blame on the International side being poor.

All i'm saying is Arsenal will be fooked if any minimum English players in a side rule comes in! The rule they propose reads to me that the player can be any nationality as long as they have been registered with the club for 3 years, not necessarily English.

but that already goes on look at Arsenal, Man Utd, Chelsea, Liverpool you take a look at their youth squads

this is a political statement from the Football League to make it look like they are doing something when in reality it has no meaning or use in the practical sense.

I know it goes on but this will increase it, I'm not disputing you're view of it.

This wont stop the big boys just coming in and taking your players, it doesn't specify they have to be registered with your academy just an English academy, they also don't specify the players must be English.

Home-grown means just that but they can still be Brussel sprouts as well as English Pippins.

Why? it exists in the Champions league this season

8 homegrown players are required in each squad of 25, 4 from the clubs own academy and 4 from any English academy. they have to have been at the club or an English club from 16 so teams like Arsenal would still be fine and players like Fabregas would still probably class as a homegrown player
