Ultra Posted 7 January 2009 Posted 7 January 2009 Andy Flower, who worked as batting coach under Moores, is set to be interim coach in the Caribbean, with opening batsman Andrew Strauss favourite to be named captain. Good news. Moores was clearly out of his depth, and it's clear that Pietersen had also lost sections of the dressing room. Let's hope their replacements can lead the team to victory over the Windies, and go on from there to regain the Ashes.
SOCCERROO FOX Posted 7 January 2009 Posted 7 January 2009 Really good idea to do that 6months out from there grand final (ashes) When will the ECB learn about stabillity, cos lets face it they were pushed In saying that they could of found a lot worse than Andy Flower he was a great crickter in a crap national side.
Flynny Posted 7 January 2009 Posted 7 January 2009 Argh Pietersen you massive arse. Just got a bit of a chastening experience under his belt and it turns out to be to no avail. Strauss should have been captain for the last ashes, and will probably be pretty good, but he can never have the same galvanizing effect as KP if his place is constantly at threat. The good news is I remember his batting really well as captain so hopefully it'll help if anything.
Fosse Boy Posted 7 January 2009 Posted 7 January 2009 I have my doubts about Strauss as a captain, but looking round the England dressing room I'm hard pushed to find any alternatives if KP really has quit.
martyn Posted 7 January 2009 Posted 7 January 2009 Anyone else have the feeling that KP might not sign a central contract and whore himself to the IPL for an entire season?
The People's Hero Posted 7 January 2009 Posted 7 January 2009 I have my doubts about Strauss as a captain, but looking round the England dressing room I'm hard pushed to find any alternatives if KP really has quit. Correct. I have my doubts as to whether he should be a dead cert pick in the side. Which has it's own problems as captain.
Uncle Albert Posted 7 January 2009 Posted 7 January 2009 Correct.I have my doubts as to whether he should be a dead cert pick in the side. Which has it's own problems as captain. I don't think anyone else in the side would be suited to being captain apart from KP. Strauss did captain the side in Pakistan and we won 3-0 so his record is pretty snazzy. There was talks about Cook getting it, thats just stupid hasnt been performing with the bat recently so to make him the next test captain would be even worse.
Milky Posted 7 January 2009 Posted 7 January 2009 I really don't like Moores. airy fairy wet fish. Doesn't offer anything. Who wants an "I'm backing KP" sticker.
dandannieldanok Posted 7 January 2009 Posted 7 January 2009 I really don't like Moores. airy fairy wet fish. Doesn't offer anything.Who wants an "I'm backing KP" sticker. I agree about Moores, doesn't appear to have the kind of influence or the knowledge as someone like Duncan Fletcher's got. Although I wouldn't say I fully back KP, sounds as though he's just acted childlishly to me.
marko Posted 7 January 2009 Posted 7 January 2009 Glad Moores has gone, never was a great fan and always seemed to favour his Southern rentboys like Prior and Tremlett and could wait to drop Hoggy after 1 bad test in a few years. Shut the door on your way out Peter.
Corky Posted 7 January 2009 Posted 7 January 2009 Not surprised or disappointed about Moores going, not good enough. With Pietersen, he's a big character and a big personality and I feel he thought that Moores wasn't good enough for him. I'd like to see Cook as captain, he's young and pretty much a permanent player. As far as the coach goes, what about the Durham coach?
Corky Posted 7 January 2009 Posted 7 January 2009 Woah!Has Peitersen actually resigned? BBC Sport says he has, and there's a press conference at 6pm to explain what's gone on
Uncle Albert Posted 7 January 2009 Posted 7 January 2009 BBC Sport says he has, and there's a press conference at 6pm to explain what's gone on The BBC talks shit. I'll wait till the press conference until I believe it. I dont think KP would of resigned unless Moore's was staying as Coach. Get Giles in as Coach and Vaughan back in at number 3. Then we win the Ashes.
Tevez Posted 7 January 2009 Posted 7 January 2009 Robert Key is odds on for next skipper. Google Image him.

GLC Posted 7 January 2009 Posted 7 January 2009 I think the Vaughan issue has been a factor in this row. I agree, he should be in the team. Quality batsman. he hasnt played much cricket though
David O'Leary Posted 7 January 2009 Posted 7 January 2009 Pietersen has just released his own statement saying he has resigned with immediate effect.
Uncle Albert Posted 7 January 2009 Posted 7 January 2009 What a bunch of nobs the ECB are. None of this shit went on when Fletch and Nasser/Vaughan were running the team but the ECB higher a coach who doesnt seem to get on with the Captain and a coach who want's to run the team himself. Now the captain and our best player by a mile resigns as Captain? Well done to the ECB you bunch of muppets. Giles for Coach and Strauss as captain. Vaughan in the squad.
dandannieldanok Posted 7 January 2009 Posted 7 January 2009 Unsurprisingly Strauss has stepped into the captaincy void, hopefully that will become a permanent arrangement.
SOCCERROO FOX Posted 7 January 2009 Posted 7 January 2009 Get Tuffnel in as coach, would certaintly make it more intresting.
