Bert Posted 10 March 2009 Author Posted 10 March 2009 I'll be watching the festival highlights tonight, just to see McCoys ride again.
fox123 Posted 10 March 2009 Posted 10 March 2009 Hmmm...Binocular going very well, so is Celestial Halo
Matt Posted 10 March 2009 Posted 10 March 2009 Right my bets for tomorrow.£25 Free Bet 1.30: Cousin Vinny @ 2/1. £2.50 e/w - £5 Free Bet 2.05: Forpadydeplasterer @ 10/1. £1 e/w 2.40: Witchita Lineman @ 6/1. £1 e/w 3.20 - Celestial Halo @ 9/1. Hopefully I can make a killing on the opening day and just have abit of fun for the rest of the festival, Never happens though. Was looking at having the rest of the week off work but although I do love Cheltenham it's abit of a waste of holiday time. I've got my radio tuned to 5live, I was tempted to take my TV and Laptop to work so I could watch and bet but don't think my boss would be took happy with that, Even though we ain't too busy anyway...Might ask him see what he says TBH I could just use the PC's upstairs in the offices to put any bets I needed putting on, and I have my radio as I say - Not the same as watching it though, We might be allowed to watch the race the owner of my company owns, someone bought a TV in and we were allowed to watch that race one year, but a TV on my bench? I think that would be a no no. Woohoo hey! Well happy, lets just say there was more just standing listening to the radio commentary today rather than work being done. Lost £25 Free Bet 1.30: Cousin Vinny @ 2/1. -Oh well, that crashed and burned, but it was a free bet so not too bother, although at the time I was gutted and thinking "Here we go again, why do I even bother" -No win, No return. Won £2.50 e/w - £5 Free Bet 2.05: Forpadydeplasterer @ 10/1. -This one made my day, Thanks Bert, probably wouldn't have picked it if it wasn't for your 'tip', This made up for Cousin Vinny flopping. -Won, £31.25 returns. Won £1 e/w 2.40: Witchita Lineman @ 6/1. -Made it even better, Come from no-where (From the sounds Radio commentary) wasn't jumping for joy on this one just because I thought this bet was dead and buried. -Won, £8.75 returns. Placed - 2nd £1 e/w 3.20 - Celestial Halo @ 9/1. Gutted it didn't stay and hold on, Sounded like Punjabi only just won it, Oh well got a return back from it and it covered my stake. -Placed 2nd, £3.25 returns. All in all a good day betting, and it has almost guaranteed me no losses for the festival because I will have surprised myself if I bet more than £43.25 (And I had £34.75 already in one account so I total I have £78 in my account). So can relax and hope for more winners during the rest of the festival now. Once again thanks to Bert who got me the main winner of the day What's your main tip of tomorrow Bert?!

Sods Posted 10 March 2009 Posted 10 March 2009 I'll be watching the festival highlights tonight, just to see McCoys ride again. What time and what channel buddy?
Bert Posted 10 March 2009 Author Posted 10 March 2009 What time and what channel buddy? 12:05 on channel 4 i think.
Matt Posted 10 March 2009 Posted 10 March 2009 What time and what channel buddy? Channel 4, Midnight, I think. Rubbish because people that work in the day obviously miss it, But then can't really stay up too late because have to get up in the morning (6.30am - Personally) for work. I reckon they should put them on about 7ish, Prime time, and not much else to watch on TV is there, Although I suppose if the racing is on till say 4/5pm then they put the highlights on at 7pm there isn't much of a break inbetween is there, but Cheltenham is only once a year, and is the only main major festival Channel 4 show (I think). BBC have Ascot/Derby and Aintree/Grand National don't they?!

Matt Posted 10 March 2009 Posted 10 March 2009 Not forgetting, Channel 4 have their news on at 7pm too. True, Half 7, 8 then? Even 9. Just not midnight!

Head Honcho Posted 10 March 2009 Posted 10 March 2009 Not forgetting, Channel 4 have their news on at 7pm too. I'm pretty sure that all races are available to view on the Ladbrokes website or even C4 website
Matt Posted 10 March 2009 Posted 10 March 2009 I don't know about anyone else but i'm finding it a hard one to pick for tomorrow.
JoeyB Posted 10 March 2009 Posted 10 March 2009 Just had a quick look through i know im a novice and know about millionth of the stuff Bert and co know but i have picked these for tomorrow. Anyone tell me if they are good bets or not: 130: Parsons Pistol - 14/1 Kornati Kid - 8/1 205: Mikael D'haguenet - 3/1 Karabak - 7/2 240: Cooldine - 7/2 Gone to lunch - 7/1 320: Master Minded - 4/11 Big Zeb - 12/1 4: Pierrot Lunaire - 16/1 Franchoek - 20/1 Psycho - 8/1 515: Qual - 9/1 Of course i won't back off of them but do ya reckon they have good chances?
Sparky Posted 10 March 2009 Posted 10 March 2009 i love Big Zeb but would be huge upset if he beat Master minded
purpleronnie Posted 10 March 2009 Posted 10 March 2009 I left my predictions with my dad (£10 per race) I got the first race winner and the last race winner lost the rest but I think I'm £100 up. Probably lose most of it tomorrow. Let my dad place the bets I'll be in the Good ol US of A.
Matt Posted 10 March 2009 Posted 10 March 2009 Could someone tell me how a reverse forecast works and how to/or if you can work out the odds before a race? I know what it entails as I have done it at the dogs before, but i'm more concered how to work out the odds if you can. A reverse forecast - 1.30 @ Cheltenham - Can't Buy Time (9/2) and Witchita Lineman (11/2). Ah i've just read it is the odds combined, so does that mean £2 @ 9/2 and 11/2 pay out as £20?

I think a reverse forecast is where you pick 2 horses (or dogs) and they can finish first and second either way?

Lots of diffrent factors i belive , Favoritism , size of the field etc . In my experience 11/2 to beat 9/2 would be around 35/1 9/2 to beat 11/2 would be around 28/1
Bert Posted 10 March 2009 Author Posted 10 March 2009 Remember if you're doing a reverse forecast, the stake is doubled.
Bert Posted 10 March 2009 Author Posted 10 March 2009 In the 3.20 tomorrow, the price of Master Minded says it should win. You can be as big as a favourite as you want, but the race still has to be run. It'd be probably the upset of the festival if Matser Minded is beaten, but that's not to say that it can't or won't happen.
