RedOnRed Posted 1 March 2009 Posted 1 March 2009 Jason Puncheon for Lloyd Dyer = Deal. Puncheon's on loan to us from Plymouth until the end of the season. As Plymouth are in The Championship and they don't deem him to be good enough after forking out £250,000 for him just last summer, it remains to be seen if he can produce the goods in the league above us.
Edmund Posted 1 March 2009 Posted 1 March 2009 Some people are quick to forget, people were singing his praises now they are talking about how he should be used for next season and being swapped potentially with other players. Wheres the fooking loyalty? If he's not playing well and Nigel is still picking him I couldn't care as Nigel knows best. Maybe gradel might be given a chance maybe not who knows. For all we know lloyd could be training well which gives him merit to be in the first squad. At the end of the day we don't spend the week at the training ground. Remember how prolific he was at the start of the season. Players don't lose it overnight. Fair enough people are allowed to have there own opinion as a lot of fans spend a lot of money following city and are entitled to say what they like but come on have a bit more support. It was only a couple of days ago gradel was getting slated in that thread now people are singing his praises. This is isin't football manager 2009.

As for Gradel, hope he does get given a chance soon. If he doesn't start on Tuesday, I think he might on Saturday against 'lesser' opposition - CHeltenham.

I have no idea how many games you get to - but I've seen almost every single Dyer performance this season and apart from Northampton I'm pushed to remember his last decent one because it was so long ago. Get shot of him? No, that was tongue in cheek - but no one would be able to persuade me that he deserves a starting position at the moment. Look at him - he is seriously awful at the moment. Yesterday he put in a couple of passes and a couple of decent crosses and then faded from view, becoming a passenger for the majority of the game.

As he's proved by what he's said in that article, he thinks he's made it here - well let me tell you, he fucking well hasnt made it here. A good start to the season and then completely fading is not making it in my opinion. He's proved no-one wrong.

Fair enough I can't argue with that as I hardly get to see Leicester play away let alone at home due to work but as you do your point is valid. At the start of the season when he was banging them in week in, week out with fryatt he was having a good spell but as stated slipped of the radar. With average ratings I just assumed that he wasn't doing to badly but wasn't grabbing the headlines due to a dry spell with goals but to be honest I never expected a great deal of goals as he is a midfielder and thought he had just been having his moment. I know recently he was getting bad reviews but he was still being picked for every game so I didn't want to read between the lines and looked at the bigger picture. Maybe he was training well but was not performing on the pitch as he was now a marked man. I just feel it's a bit premature to be getting behind his back and maybe giving gradel an opportunity like others have also said would be the best bet if he is not performing to his best abillity to give him a kick up the arse. I just feel that Nigel and the coaching staff obviously rate him and see something we don't as they still stick behind him. In regards to saying that we should get shot of him, maybe I was over reacting and any supporter who spends time and money following there club is entitled to any opinion they want and reading back it's just one of those comments made due to the opposition player having a good game. Im sure if we had played man utd people would be saying we should swap him for ronaldo.
RedOnRed Posted 1 March 2009 Posted 1 March 2009 It's odd that he started with you in form and has faded away. You'd think it would be the other way round having to get used to a new system. I have to say that i'm quite surprised with his lack of form. For the two seasons with us he rarely dipped. Perhaps he just needs a golfing holiday in the Algarve or something.

I've had my reservations about Dyer since I first saw him pre-season. But when a bloke scores nine goals from the wing in the first half of the campaign and we've been top or near the top of the table throughout then of course he's going to get picked. Not only that but Gradel was nowhere near his best on the right and Porter was our of the picture for non-football reasons and, as a Pearson signing, it's a fair bet the manager wanted to play him anyway. But views change in football. There's nothing unusual about it. Dyer been in cruise control at best for a while and Gradel has reminded people he's still around. That said Gradel's not even played a 90-minute game recently and full games are a far bigger challenge than cameo's off the bench. And I'd far sooner let him build those cameos up sensibly than have him thrust into a starting place when there's no great need for it. Because, for sure, if Gradel falters as a starting player, his critics will soon having another go and I'd rather they didn't get gien the ammunition for a while, at least until the lad is fully fit, match sharp and has had the chance to re-establish himself.
Corky Posted 1 March 2009 Posted 1 March 2009 Gradel definitely should start on Tuesday. He was the spark we needed yesterday.
Thracian Posted 1 March 2009 Posted 1 March 2009 Gradel definitely should start on Tuesday. He was the spark we needed yesterday. Yes but my view is based on not wanting the spark extinguished.

Very true, maybe he got a little carried away and a little big for his boots which has led to complacency. As I remember reading correctly didn't lloyd have a few off the field problems with a bereavement in the family. I know it's no excuse and it's life but they are only human at the end of the day no matter how much money they get paid.

I know Max Gradel had to go back to France earlier this season for family reasons, I think his Mum passed away last year and then in August his aunt also passed away and he is now the main man in his family cos he's got younger brothers and sisters I think. I remember reading him saying how it had all affected him and he was trying hard to concentrate on the football.

Yeah this is true, really feel for the guy at such a young age to go through what he has must be tough.

Yes, especially when you have to stay in another country from your family most of the time. That's one of the reasons why I think that picture of Max and Nige at MK is extra special.

Like ive said before I can't see him going anywhere in the near future, maybe a loan but I think he will feature still next season and be in the 16 next season if promoted. He is still young and has many years ahead. That pic is quality shows that there is a lot of love in the lcfc camp.
Raj Posted 2 March 2009 Posted 2 March 2009 LLoyd needs a "rest' Defo not playing as well as he should be.
