Fez of Mahrez Posted 27 April 2005 Posted 27 April 2005 Bit early I know but hopefully this will be one of the most interesting team selections of the past few years. We have a lot of promising youngsters who have yet to start a game for us and this is the time to play them! Better than that, we've actually had an indication that this will be the case. Walker Stearman Kenton McCarthy Stewart Porter Dawson Hughes Tiatto Connolly Dodds I know cases will be made for Sheehan and Wesolowski as well (not forgetting Chambo) but I think the above side has the right balance of experimentation and experience.
Simon Posted 27 April 2005 Posted 27 April 2005 I'd like to see the back four they were raving about the possibility of last night on Radio Leicester: Walker Maybury Stearman McCarthy Stewart Porter Dawson Hughes Tiatto Connolly Moore Bench: Hirschfeld, Kenton, Wesolowski, Dodds, Dublin The back four looks a little inexperienced but McCarthy and Stearman is a good combination and worth trying (we have experienced players to help them over the summer) and Kenton will provide a good utility back four man

McCarthy looks to have assured himself of regular first-team football there with his performances recently and you can't have a 21-year-old and a 17-year-old (or however old they are) in central defence together. We all know what Maybury can do, would prefer to see Stearman at right-back again. Shame one of them isn't a left-back cos our back four would be complete then.

breadandcheese Posted 27 April 2005 Posted 27 April 2005 I thought Williams was superb last night. He worked hard and made things happen. Can't see him being dropped. Also, the Leeds game is Nalis's last in front of the City fans at home. I think he will play as a nice gesture from Levein so that he can say goodbye. Who would begrudge Nalis that final appearance at home, especially after his excellent performance last night?
Scow Posted 27 April 2005 Posted 27 April 2005 Walker Maybury - Kenton - McCarthy - Stewart Hughes - Nalis - Dawson - Tiatto Connolly - Moore It will be interesting to see who he chooses, given that Levein did state he would try some of the youngsters once we're safe. After the performance against Derby, he may be reluctant to drop players who performed well. With the back four playing well, I don't think that will be disrupted. However, Levein could bring on Stearman in the second half for one of Maybury, McCarthy or Kenton. B&C - I don't agree that Williams was superb. He'll have good patches of play, then goes missing. He certainly has the ability and potential to be one of the best midfielders in this division along with Hughes if he applies himself in the right way. I would like to see Dawson given a chance - He would be a better option than Gudjonsson. I can see Dublin being rested, and then brought on as sub late in the game.
breadandcheese Posted 27 April 2005 Posted 27 April 2005 Scowy, I think you're being harsh on Williams. Last night, he worked his socks off and created some great link-up play. He closed down Derby's midfielders and worked continuously until Levein could see him tiring and took him off. He was fantastic last night (much like the whole team). Yes, he has played terribly for much of the season and has gone missing in many matches. For that I have complained about him, as have many people. I am merely recognising that last night he played very well and long may it continue.
shen Posted 27 April 2005 Posted 27 April 2005 Walker Maybury - Kenton - McCarthy - Stewart Gillespie - Nalis - Hughes - Moore Dublin - Connolly Subs: Hirschfeld, Dawson, Stearman, Wright, Wilcox With Dawson and Stearman coming on in the 2nd half, presuming we're not losing

As I said, he played well in patches, but it's not continous. Saying that, I agree Williams had one his better games, but he can still do better. That may sound a bit harsh after the team performance last night, however, I just want to see him fulfilling his potential.

I think the most we can hope for is Dawson on the bench and maybe Sheehan to join him. Because of the great performance last night we probably won't leave many/if anyone out. I'll be pissed off if Nalis is playing though, i know he performed well last night, but if he isn't going to be here next season, theres no need to play him now when we're safe with nothing to play for except our future.

I think he made a major contribution to both the improved central defensive play and the team work as a whole. He faded quite a bit in the second half as did Hughes and several others this was probably due to the high tempo, high level of possession we enjoyed in the first half.
SamuearlJackson Posted 27 April 2005 Posted 27 April 2005 a quick 3-5-2 ....................Walker ....................McCarthy ..........Stearman.....Dabizas Maybury.............................Stewart .....................Tiatto ...........Hughes........Williams ..........Connolly......Dublin Not sure about the back 3 - other possibilities here...
FNQ Posted 27 April 2005 Posted 27 April 2005 It's all about who's going to get a contract for next season, so we need to see the likes of: Walker Canero Kenton Stearman Stewart Gemmil Gudjohnsson Nalis Gillespie Moore Dublin And why not put a couple of youngsters on the bench.

He had very good patches where he showed his class and quality, but then he disappeared for the next 10-15 minutes. I feel that he thinks he's done his little bit of magic so can 'hide' for the next 10 minutes without touching the ball. Harsh but if you monitor him closely it's a fair observation. Anyway, I can't believe some people have played Moore on the wing in their selection. He's no winger I assure you. My team: Hirschfeld Maybury Kenton McCarthy Stewart Hughes Dawson Nalis (for his farewell) Tiatto Moore Connolly Subs: Canero, Stearman, Dodds, Gillespie, Williams

Anyway, if they can play Wright on the wing in the reserves, and the way Levein has been playing players out of position this season, it is actually a realistic prognosis that Moore will start on the left against Leeds

TrickyTrev Posted 27 April 2005 Posted 27 April 2005 .....................Walker Maybury...Kenton...McCarthy..Stewart Gillespie...Dawson...Williams...Hughes ...............Moore....Connolly SUBS- Hirchfield, Stearman, Dublin, Wilcox, Nalis People are forgetting that Danny Tiatto is suspended. I'd like kenton to have another chance at prroving himself at centre back and Stewart, Paddy and Maybury could do with getting some games togethe runder their belt as they will almost certainly make up 3 of the back 4 next season. Dawson has been getting rave reviews in the reserves so it seems logical to give him a chance in a match like this, will insure our midfield is competitive and there there is something of interesting in an otherwise dead rubber of a match. Moore should definately be given a start, he has come out on loan to get some first team football and has barely got a look in. I think itwould be right of us to give hima couple of starts and Dublin is probably in need of a rest. Nalis shoudl come on in the second half to give a farewell performance, he has been a good player for us if a little inconsistent. Wilcox is only ont he bench as Stewart's shoulderr could go at any time and we may want to move Hughesy into the centre as he is not a natural left winger.

Anish Posted 27 April 2005 Posted 27 April 2005 People are forgetting that Danny Tiatto is suspended. 99633[/snapback] No we're not, he isn't suspended for the Leeds game. Tiatto picked up his 15th booking of the season on 82 minutes after a deliberate handball and will now miss the last game of this season against Plymouth and the first two matches of next term. http://www.lcfc.premiumtv.co.uk/page/Match...4~27326,00.html

Canero is a right back (do you mean he is injured?). I've been told Stearmans best posistion is centreback. I thought Joey's contract was up. Obviously Adams didn't just sign players on 1 year deals. I think CL has already decided on Dabizas and Wilcox. I had no idea about Dawsons contractual posistion. Sorry.
