Daggers Posted 10 March 2009 Author Posted 10 March 2009 I agree with you, we've had some top days out, but we also had many tops days out last year I didn't. Last season was pretty grim on balance - for me. As I said - I've enjoyed this season more than any other, more than my previous favourite of promotion to the 1st Division in 1979-80. This is a subjective thing. This was the best season for me because of a whole number of different aspects, not least of which was the growing number of people from FT appearing at grounds. Bristol Rovers away was outstanding for that reason. Hartlepool, a long journey with the benefit of all the worst tracks the passengers could find on my iPod before laughing with folks I'd seen the other end of the country the previous week.
Kilworthfox Posted 10 March 2009 Posted 10 March 2009 Barnsley! You could have at least said West Brom! I don't see a difference personally Tom. In my opinion, a win is a win, every single one means something to me. Do you feel because we've won 22 league games this season that they're not important because victories in the CCC were rare and therefore of more value to you? What happens if we storm the league next season, will it not be an achievement because victories in the Premiership are of lot higher value? Barnsley meant alot in the last 2 seasons, we took a load of fans and the support was exceptional! Winning is important, essential. You have misunderstood my point! It has nothing to do with last seasons failings or this seasons victories. My view is that the enjoyment value of beating quality of oposition is higher to me than beating lower opposition. Therefore I naturally feel that a victory against the championship teams & above is more of an achievement and therefore more enjoyable to me than beating lesser League 1 opposition. I am not disapointed with this season or unhappy, but I expected the performance which we have achieved this season.
Daggers Posted 10 March 2009 Author Posted 10 March 2009 ... but I expected the performance which we have achieved this season. And meeting the yardstick you imposed is not good enough? Maybe this is why I'm happy, I never expected us to walk the division. At the outset I felt we'd have problems and would struggle like all other larger teams at this level which is why I've been OK with the events when considered on a whole.

My opinion on the 24th of August 2008 I think that I will get this thread up the list again before Leeds if we are about to go up or have gone up Blue Army mo fo's

Yeah I thought we'd be in the play-offs or thereabouts but running away with it has been very unexpected for me.

And loving every minute of it... working with Florist and Direby fans i took alot of stick when we got relegated... however, it all seems quiet on the western front for some reason I've never once said we'd walk the league (like Forest fans did - many times) and i still refuse to say we are 100% promoted as it winds them up even more.

Ah, now you're talking. That was my first season as a City fan. Orient away, last game of the season, with my mum! Was that you hanging from the crossbar, Daggers?
Corky Posted 11 March 2009 Posted 11 March 2009 Bristol Rovers was my favourite away day. Standing up, no stewards on your case, proper banter with the players and opposition supporters. Cracking day. Much better than going to Southampton.

Was that you hanging from the crossbar, Daggers? We started going two seasons before that, off and on, but it was the season where me and my brother badgered my Mum into taking us. Just to say thank-you for being a wonderful Mum, my brother took her to the City Ground last weekend
MrSpaM Posted 11 March 2009 Posted 11 March 2009 I don't think this season has really been our best, i mean look when we were in the premiership, with players like hesky and izzet on the books, it's gonna take an absolute miracle and a crazy ammount of hard work to top the O'neil days. However, this season has been a massive boost to our players, the management, and the fans of the club. The team has so far done us proud, and i think if we played like this last season, we wouldn’t have ended up in that terrible relegation mess. The best thing to come out of this season, is that quite a few of our players our now on a much better form, and have a lot more confidence. Just hope the wallet opens if we go up, were going to need a more solid midfield next season.

I'm bloody loving it.
