Corky Posted 12 March 2009 Posted 12 March 2009 The club really have not done themselves any favours over this. I expect Bill Anderson to rip into them and Mandaric in the Mercury
davieG Posted 12 March 2009 Posted 12 March 2009 Sales will pep bids in market, says Hoos Revenue raised from Leicester City's season-ticket renewals could give manager Nigel Pearson a head start in the summer transfer market, says chief executive Lee Hoos. Hoos said: "It would mean that when the season ends on May 2, if we are promoted to the Championship, Nigel could start work on transfers the following day if he wishes." The City chief executive has responded to criticism in some quarters about the club's decision to introduce a March 15 deadline for season-ticket renewals. Some supporters fear that, if they cannot commit now, they will lose their seats when they go on general sale. Chairman Milan Mandaric said last month he would take another look at the date, but Hoos said: "The date won't change, but we do understand it is an emotional issue." And he believes the £50 deposit and monthly direct-debit repayment scheme recognises the difficulties that fans are facing in a tough economic climate. Mandaric has also promised fans that he would refund the £50 if City fail to gain promotion from League One. Hoos said: "We have held meetings with fans' groups and, when these arrangements were explained to them, they got it." He also clarified the £4 administration charge is for one transaction rather than for individual tickets. "If a family of four want to renew, it will be just the £4 to pay," he said. Hoos said other clubs had also introduced earlier cut-off dates for renewals, quoting Norwich City's deadline date as February 28. And he said he had been "really encouraged" by the queues at the Walkers Stadium ticket office this week. It is understood season-ticket renewals stand at around 6,000, more than 1,000 up on the same stage last season. Those sales have been boosted by the fact that City remain favourites for automatic promotion, despite last night's 2-0 defeat at Tranmere. "We're expecting to be very busy, particularly in the last couple of days before the deadline closes," said Hoos. "We've also seen our gates go up in the past few weeks with the only blip being the 16,000 crowd we got against Stockport and there were mitigating circumstances because it was such a bad night weather-wise." Hoos said City were also continuing to take steps to offset the credit crunch with "rationalisation programmes" aimed at reducing costs. "One area which has been addressed relates to agents' fees," said Hoos. "From July to December 2007, we paid over £1million to agents. The latest Football League figures show for the period from July to December 2008, that figure was reduced to £121,000." So if he can't spend it until May 2nd why does he need it by March 15th
Corky Posted 12 March 2009 Posted 12 March 2009 Exactly davie. Why couldn't the club have extended the deadline until the end of April?
Daggers Posted 12 March 2009 Posted 12 March 2009 Exactly davie. Why couldn't the club have extended the deadline until the end of April? Why are these things coming out in piecemeal snippets? Because the whole thing wasn't thought through, they didn't take into account the response from supporters and the sales are going badly. When the date and the pricing structure were announced would have been an ideal opportunity to lay out a plan for the future...but no, one more example that the people in charge of this club would have trouble ****ing whores in a brothel.

CosbehFox Posted 12 March 2009 Posted 12 March 2009 Sheffield United today (2nd March) announced they are reducing the cost of watching the Blades next season. The move to cut prices up to £30 on last season's renewal costs, is a further development of United's policy of keeping football affordable. Another highlight is an extension of the scheme to provide free admission for youngsters when accompanied by adults. Children up to the age of 13 can now participate. SHEFF UTD's latest press release over ST's. Also a free 3rd choice shirt with it.
