Hitesh Posted 16 March 2009 Posted 16 March 2009 Link Chris Kirkland believes his Wigan team-mate Titus Bramble is worthy of a call-up to Fabio Capello's England squad. The goalkeeper hailed the former Ipswich and Newcastle defender's performances over the entire campaign after another solid display in the 2-1 win at Sunderland on Saturday. Bramble has often been criticised and ridiculed in equal measure for some calamitous mistakes in the past but this season has seen him turn his fortunes around. Capello has shown in the past that he is willing to pick players who are in form for their clubs, giving the 27-year-old an outside chance of being selected for the Slovakia friendly at the end of March. "He is my player of the season by a mile, he's definitely got my vote and hopefully he can carry on doing what he's been doing all season," Kirkland told the Daily Mirror. "Titus has found a place where he is happy and he has become a very important player for us. Talented "I played with him for the Under-21s years ago and you could see then he was such a talented player. "He took some terrible stick when he made mistakes. For some reason they were blown up as if he had committed the biggest crimes in the world. "It is a testament to him and a testament to this club that he's come here and is playing with a smile on his face. "He's performing like that every week, so I've got to say he is international standard. He's worth a look by England." Meanwhile, Latics boss Steve Bruce believes that Kirkland would be England's first choice No.1 had it not been for a string of injuries. "For me, Chris is the best goalkeeper in England. If he didn't have the problems he has with his back, he'd be England's No.1," he told the Daily Mail. "That's no disrespect to David James. I played alongside one of the world's best in Peter Schmeichel and Chris is right up there. "It's just a shame that physically getting on planes and buses he struggles. We've had to restrict him and he has a personal conditioner who works to keep him on the pitch. "I'm English and if he can keep injury-free, I'd love to see him in goal for England because he deserves to be." Oh dear...
Shrenchel Posted 16 March 2009 Posted 16 March 2009 Link Oh dear... Hes put in a lot of good performances this season. Id rather we picked people on form rather how much they get paid and what club they play for like many England managers have done.
lildave3 Posted 16 March 2009 Posted 16 March 2009 Better than people think. Perhaps not this good, but still.
Joe. Posted 16 March 2009 Posted 16 March 2009 What a heroic player. Would love to see Titus don the three lions.
Libertine Posted 16 March 2009 Posted 16 March 2009 What a heroic player. Would love to see Titus don the three lions. He'd suit the 'new' badge perfectly.
Uncle Albert Posted 16 March 2009 Posted 16 March 2009 If I see Bramble put on an England shirt and play some part of a game then it will be the day I stop watching some of England's games. Titus Bramble is a joke. Bramble is so far down the list on English centre half's that its a joke that people are saying this stupid stuff. Terry Ferdinand Woodgate King Jagielka Lescott Dawson Weater Richards Turner If all of them got injured then I would condone Bramble getting the last 5 minutes of a friendly against Georgia or Bahrain, unless it was them conditions I would be pissed off.
Samilktray Posted 16 March 2009 Posted 16 March 2009 Would prefer him to Terry. But ultimately Ledley King would be first choice with Rio if it wasnt for injuries.
Fosse Boy Posted 16 March 2009 Posted 16 March 2009 Hes put in a lot of good performances this season. Id rather we picked people on form rather how much they get paid and what club they play for like many England managers have done. This is also my attitude. I'm not quite sure if he's the right option in this case, but I certainly think England should have this kind of selection policy.
Fox You Forest Posted 16 March 2009 Posted 16 March 2009 Every now and then he'll have a blinding performance but ultimately i think he's a poor defender. Playing for England?? I don't think we have a friendly against San Marino coming up do we, That pretty much rules him out I'd say.
Tilley Posted 16 March 2009 Posted 16 March 2009 If all of them got injured then I would condone Bramble getting the last 5 minutes of a friendly against Georgia or Bahrain. True words, Titus Bramble is fucking awful, shouldn't even be mentioned in the same sentence as 'England squad'.

Agreed, laughable player.
DJ Barry Hammond Posted 16 March 2009 Posted 16 March 2009 Titus is the worlds best Centre back imo. What with your Avatar, it's almost as if Robbie Earle is saying those words - proberly because it's something Robbie Earle would say which automatically makes it shit!

Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 16 March 2009 Posted 16 March 2009 Would prefer him to Terry. But ultimately Ledley King would be first choice with Rio if it wasnt for injuries. Agreed. Such a shame to see someone so talented absolutely crippled. Could have been a long term fixture if it wasn't for the injuries.

King is very talented and Tottenham's best defender, but I still find it ridiculous that he doesn't train yet still gets in the team. Feel sorry for the other centre-halves at the club.

Samilktray Posted 16 March 2009 Posted 16 March 2009 Think it says more about just how awesome Ledley is to be honest. And your still not in my good books Nihat.
