Hope they sort it out soon

I know someone who works at the place, he said fires are being started and everything

Just back in Oakham to see my parents and police all over town. Not sure if anyone escaped. We're at the end of town closest to the prison, it's about a mile from here. Loads of helicopters around. This kind of thing doesn't happen in Rutland!

I was totally shocked at this.............. 3/4 of the building wrecked... all inmates moved to other prisons & months before it'll be sorted. All apparently due to one inmate being deprived privilages for being out of his room out of hours. Have had some inside dealings with this prison (not as an inmate obviously) and its just not the sort of jail I ever expected something like this to happen. Its a category C nick so is fairly relaxed compared to the high security ones and shouldnt be housing any inmates deemed to be a risk to the public (so I understand - I could be wrong!)

This certainly wont help the over-crowding situation in other prisons that have had to take some of the 400 inmates from Ashwell.

Gosh, this is really near me. Someone throwing their toys out of the pram for not getting what they want? Sounds familiar.

Hope they haven't escaped through the windows there. Me dad only had them fitted last year. Still if they have then will be a few more quid in his pocket haha

So let me get this straight... They burn the prison, so we move them to a prison which isn't burnt while we fix it? How exactly does this discourage people from burning prisons? Leave them there to enjoy the facilities they destroyed. Scum.
